lancer or vios?

sorry if this is being asked before, cos i'm asking for my friend's..
okay, lancer manual sports Versus vios deluxe ss manual.
which one will you choose?
lancer is about $4k more ex.
but talking in terms of long term, which one is betta?
also heard, that toyota parts more easily available, so might be betta in long run...
so?

Toyota is basically much better than Mitsubishi in terms of performance and $$ wise. VIOS have very low maintenance cost. and last better.
But if u want to bring a Vios to go race with a Lancer... no worries, Lancer will be smelling your exhaust.

Lancer is not that all bad, but below is a few comparison for your thoughts.........
Vios 'win' over Lancer:-
1) Better Pick-up speed (manual).
2) Cheaper.
3) Better Fuel Consumption (My friends Vios is getting 14km/l), compare to Lancer 10-11km/l .............<< input from my friends, as I have friends driving both cars>>
Lancer 'win' over Vios:-
1) Smoother pick-up for auto (I test drove both before, and its my personal feel)
2) More spacious than Vios.
3) Built and assemble in Jap.
The good thing is both car have many after market parts and body kits, so you can 'play' around with them.

Why not go down, test drive both models, and go with ur gut feeling??
Afterall, I feel personally there since the car is going to be with u for a few yrs, might as well go with ur gut feeling. It feels good to be happy with ur choice every morning, ya??

I was also facing the same question the last time...then I went to see VIOS first...then the Lancer...
once I stepped into the Lancer...no questions asked..it's the LANCER..hehe
in terms of interior, lancer is much bigger than VIOS...
I bought the lancer sports manual, the exterior looks good too...in my opinion better than the VIOS...
and for fuel consumption... well..I've been driving my lancer since last june... my best was 16.5km/l and average is around 15.5km/l...
16.5km/l was done when I didn't turn on the aircon ( I drive to work very early, so it's cool)
15.5 was average...with aircon on and going to town etc -

I do believe Lancer have much better handling than Vios due to the wider wheel base. If it wasn't for the rumored weaker FC, Lancer would be a much better choice than Vios. However that applies for the manual car only.
I am not into Auto cars, but believe City (Auto) to be quite strong a competition. -
Technically, recent Mitsubisi cars are having much technical problems. Am not saying that the Made in Thailand Vios have no problem but all depends on wat you are looking for leh and yr luck too.
from fuel economy, engine, model age, performance, must said that Vios is slightly better than Lancer lah in tat cateogory. Other like Honda Jqzz or Fit should also be considered if you are looking for a zappy, fun car to drive.

i'm currently driving a 1 mth old Lancer Sports Manual. Dunno how you guys managed to get FC around 15km/l. Must have some super secret fuel saving driving method. For me, the best I've managed is 14.3, but on the average, I hit about 13.4km/l, which I'm quite happy with.
The following are just MY opinion:
LANCER (Pros)
1) Spacious interior
2) Good FC
LANCER (Cons)
1) Recent PR hoo-ha (i dun really care)
2) uses 4-year-old technology (GLX)
VIOS (Pros)
1) Speedy pickup/acceleration
2) New modern technology (VVTi)
3) Probably higher resale value
VIOS (Cons)
1) Cramped back space (i mean, very cramped)
Vios is good if you're driving alone, or with 1 front passenger most of the time. Quick pick-up, sporty, lots of aftermarket stuff etc. But if you need to ferry friends, family etc and use the back seats very often, you'll have to seriously consider the mild "discomfort" of the cramped rear.
Eventually, I picked the Lancer. -

Do not step hard on your accelerator when you move off or while cruising. BE GENTLE on the accelerator! Keep to 80-90kmph while on the expressway. At night, if it's cool, like these few days, turn off aircon and drive.
I got the 16.5km/l when I did not turn on the aircon and drove to and from school. Traffic was smooth that week (think it's sec school holidays) and it was cruising all the way.
I DO agree that the Lancer has bigger legroom than the VIOS. and it's 100% more spacious than VIOS. in my opinion, the design of the Lancer (sports version) is nicer too.

Aircon off, lucky my seat is "leather", or else the fabric will be damp.
But I will try to do a no-aircon n speeding record to see the Max of my fish. Now still waiting for the run-in period to end. -

oh yeah...I forgot one more thing...dun rev your engine too hard...I usually change gear at around 2200~2500rpm...
As for the aircon thing, the good thing about mitsubishi cars is that its aircon is really good..very fast to cool down..hehe..so sometimes what I do is turn on for some time, then when I'm cooled...turn off..hehe.. -

Get a VIOS.... I am driving a CITY now but seriously VIOS to me is not a bad car except for its cabin space lah... so if u can dun care abt that, get VIOS lah, dun get LANCER... when I test drive it...i dun noe lah the feeling is that it sux (sorry.. personal feeling)

It all depend on your feel to the car. I was so determined to buy Vios three weeks ago but my girlfriend suggest that i should shop around more. So happend that we stepped into Mitshbishi show room and the moment i take a close look at the car i start to have second thought. I feel that the body and interior is more comparable to Altis then Vios, at least the door does not feel so light. After test drive, i never think of Vios anymore.
My conclusion is that whether you like it or not. -
Same question on my mind.. will be test driving both models this weekend...
