Need Help Importing Mustang!!!

Can anyone tell mi whether LTA have a list saying wat kinds of cars can u import and wat u cant? thank you...(Like to import a RHD mustang btw)

they don't have a list of approved cars but they have a list of documents etc that u'll need to get the car approved.
you'll need to import the car first, then bring it down to LTA for homologation, so that's the risk you're gonna have to take. But as long as the car is new, roadworthy, abides by the noise and emission standards, i don't think it'll be a problem.

oh, you'll probably need to pay for the car in full as no bank is gonna loan you money for this. so if cash flow is an issue, it'll probably be easier for you to get a parallel importer to bring it in for you.

There are RHD Corvettes and Dodge SUV trucks in OZ.Would love to get my hands on some of them one day.

If you are importing a RHD Mustang... i believe it was built for Japan market or UK market?
LTA rules are simple..... if the vehicle have already met JIS or EU standard of emissions and you show certification of it.....
AUTOMATIC approval.
BUt if no... you have to show proof of emission, etc etc... -

people, people... go check the ford website. the fully spec-ed mustang is actually quite cheap. USD 27k or so, as compared to say, a humble 2.5L Z4 which retails for ard USD 34k.
so customs should value the OMV for the mustang at around hmm... SGD 45k-ish? that's nowhere near porsche territory. -

besides. handling wise, the mustang GT is also nowhere near porsche territory.
besides, the mustang GT manages 300 bhp from a 4.6l V8. the porsche basic 911 manages 321bhp from a 3.5l flat 6. the mustang is hardly THAT impressive when u look at it from this perspective is it? I'm not saying its not good, I'm saying the porsche is better. -

GBP168 + GBP4 (estimate freight & insurance) +5%GST+ GBP168*110% (ARF) + GBP6.25(COE) = GBP370K = S$1,184K
Heng@, it only make sense for you to import a car if you can buy it at factory price. Or esle you will have to pay super high ARF. As for the Mustang, do they produce RHD model? -
hmm. so far, don't recall any RHD mustang. and to be honest even if they did make them, he'd have to import them from UK, which means the car's already been shipped once to UK, and thus there is a middleman who will be making a profit from it. ultimately it's not going to make sense to bring in a Mustang. unless u're so bloody rich and u really really want the car bad.Originally posted by Gazelle:S$1+million is about the right price even if you try to import.
