COE prices & GETZ...

hi all,
i'm a newcomer to this forum and i really hope to gather some valuable opinions here...
my mom just placed a booking on a hyundai getz 5dr 1.3A this evening for a price of $47,888 (confirmed COE is $50,888 )
but her booking is HUGELY dependent on the results of the 6th April COE bidding...hence, given that there is only a ONE week interval between the previous COE bidding round (29th March) and the upcoming one (6th April), do you think the COE prices will go down instead?
because from what i gather, the SEs have less time (1 week less) to gather bookings and thus, might exist a COE supply exceeding demand situation...what do you guys think of it?
finally, what do you guys think of the getz?

COE will and should go down.

darn...my mom paid a $2k deposit liao...didn't expect it to be a petrol guzzler
for daily urban travel, anyone knows what's the FC like for the 1.3A version??
i'm currently not in singapore, that's why i couldn't go test drive the car with my mom nor give her my 2 cents worth on getz...hopefully, the car would turn out to be a reasonable buy...
LCL, any particular reasons for your opinion that COE prices will be headed south? -
Common lah...lets be realistic...The entire Singapore knows that this time round COE will only be 1 week, and since every one expect it to drop, it don't need brain to think that more people will rush in and push the COE up lah...in fact the car prices have already reflected this anticipated drop....
therefore, i don't think it will drop any further....$18k is the support

haha...guess i'll have to peel my eyes onto onemotoring.com come 6th April then...see if it will breach the $18k mark and head even further south...or will $18k be the threshold limit...
it'll really be an interesting bid to keep tabs on...see what's the effect of a one week back-to-back COE bidding process...

COE will still drop as economy has not recover. everyone rush to buy, who is the everyone?
those who drive now will not think of changing. those going to buy will wait some more as the other time was at 16+k oni... -
you see hor....the rebate for off peak car is $17k....that means to say if people buy off peak car, then their COE is pratically free of charge because it will be paid in the form of rebate.
that's why i conclude that the support level is around 17-18k....what you pros think about it? -

hahaha...yea...but i'm her full-time chauffeur as well...i even have this funny tag on my previous car that states "mummy's taxi"
i have to ferry to-and-fro her workplace...but i guess it helps that my uni is near her office...so i just drop her off in the morning when i go school...then pick her up from work after my class ends

I've test drive the Hyundai Getz 1.3A 5dr, heard that the fuel consumption is alot. Compared to Nissan Sunny 1.5, which has a higher FC?
I'm travelling from one end to another everyday. Thus FC is very important to me. But i can't afford the Toyota Vios.
Does anyone knows the octane level for Getz? And if Getz can consume 92 fuel?? Had asked the salesman at hyundai, he said Getz need 91 only. But he wasn't to sure too. -
i've spoken to quite a few 1.3A owners and they are averaging 12-13km/litre (mixture of urban/highway) but provided you are a decent kind of driver...if you are heavy-footed and like hard acceleration, might even plunge to 10km/litre...
if it's just purely highway travel, travelling from jurong to changi...i think 14km/litre might even be achievable...

My fren owns one 1.3A Getz and when the car is on a full load, he has problem going up the slope of multi-storey carpark....i think that is pathetic.....

I heard Getz is terrible. I heard it spoils so easily!~ But i'm on budget, i'm thinking of chevrolet now. Price is competitive. 1.4 A Aveo is at 52k. Is it a US brand? Any comments on the Aveo? Its doesn't seem so popular thou. -
Be warned that Aveo's FC is about the same as Getz's. If it is FC that you are concerned about, you can consider Picanto and Kelisa. Both can get 16km/L easily. Of course, go for Manual cars if you can. Because the differences in FC could be a good 2km/L. Too bad Getz got not manual car at 1.3cc. And go for Getz 1.6 if you can afford it. It package is much better for an additional of S$2-3k. And it is definitely much more powerful than its little brother. Might even be stronger than Aveo. -
Its depends lah .. heard from other forums that Getz is a decent car.
Service wise should be alright cause more Getz on the road. As for Chevy .. Not too sure but got hear it is also a fuel drinker ...
As for Getz .. it is a 1.3 Car .. so cant expect it to be powerful and for pple with heavy foot, definitely will consume more fuel. Avg I heard is above 12km/l.
As for Chevy .. so far less than 11km/l for what I heard .. -
I beg to differ. If the COE drops below $17K (which I'm sure it will), the $17K rebate will be used to offset a portion of the ARF, which if I'm not wrong, stands at 110% of the import price of the car now. Anyway, with the sudden surge in bank interest rates, there is added pressure on COE prices. Besides, neither the economy nor the people's pay has gone up as much as the petrol prices & cost of living!!
