The foglights are in-built into the headlight cluster for the E8.Originally posted by joey2003:Hi...
I was looking at the brochure of the EVO 8 last night, and correct me if I'm wrong, the EVO 8 does not have fog lamps in front (i.e. no fog lamps in the front bumper), is that right?

this will be the last of its production run.......MMC gonna change the EVO X to a new platform ......no more 4G63.......![]()
then if u on the foggies with low beam other pple think u on high beam?Originally posted by dansplace:The foglights are in-built into the headlight cluster for the E8.
(headlight) (highbeam) (foglight) ---> this is the sequence for the left cluster / flip it other way around for the right cluster.
I use the foglights as how they were meant to be used - when I encounter a fog. And thats usually when I travel up north - and its always good to ensure the slower driver that I am coming his way.Originally posted by ceecookie:then if u on the foggies with low beam other pple think u on high beam?
no...i wanna know if u use low beam and foggies on a clear night will pple think u on high beam? coz the foggie is together with the headlight so pple may tink it's high beam coz low beam isent realli bright compared with together with the foggiesOriginally posted by dansplace:I use the foglights as how they were meant to be used - when I encounter a fog. no they wun....I always drive with my foglights on...as its placed low it wun glare other usersOriginally posted by ceecookie:no...i wanna know if u use low beam and foggies on a clear night will pple think u on high beam? coz the foggie is together with the headlight so pple may tink it's high beam coz low beam isent realli bright compared with together with the foggies
In Layman words .. they have decided to put MIVEC on to the 4G63 Engine and its gonna work wonders like the Vtec Turbo ... Doggiehowser, correct if wrong ... i am new to this ...Originally posted by joey2003:Just curious here...
I heard the the platform for EVO 8 and EVO 9 is the same... but besides the new facelift in the front of the EVO 9 and slight changes in the interior, what else is different? Is the engine on the EVO 9 a new one or it's still the same as EVO 8?
Why do you want to use your foglights on a clear night? If you are using your foglights on a clear night, why are you worried that pple are going to think that your highbeam is on?Originally posted by ceecookie:no...i wanna know if u use low beam and foggies on a clear night will pple think u on high beam? coz the foggie is together with the headlight so pple may tink it's high beam coz low beam isent realli bright compared with together with the foggies
No offense meant but suggest you read the thread from the start...Originally posted by AE86tofu:no they wun....I always drive with my foglights on...as its placed low it wun glare other users
The MIVEC in the 4G63 seems to be only cam-phasing (similar to Toyota's VVTi) and it is only on the intake side.Originally posted by johncooper:In Layman words .. they have decided to put MIVEC on to the 4G63 Engine and its gonna work wonders like the Vtec Turbo ... IF im not wrong, you are right...... turbo kicks in at bout 3500rpmOriginally posted by joey2003:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the Turbo for the EVO (8 or 9, can't remember) kicks in at 3,500 RPM, is that right?
And also, the EVOs dun come with blow off valves that generate the "piss" sound when you change gears?
You get the peak torque at 3500rpm.Originally posted by joey2003:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the Turbo for the EVO (8 or 9, can't remember) kicks in at 3,500 RPM, is that right?

well or u can also increase the turbo bar to like 2.3 or so....but be warned, too high can blow the engine...Originally posted by DoggieHowser:You get the peak torque at 3500rpm.
But the turbo begins spooling abt 500rpm earlier.
With the 9, you can see some noticeable gains from 2000rpm, and peak torque is at 3000rpm
You need a way to release the boost when you go off throttle. Stock turbocharged cars usually use a recirculating diverter valve. So you don't get a loud pssshhh sound.
Most guys change to a vent-to-air VTA blow off valve (BOV) which gives that sound. It mucks up the MAF sensor on stock Evos tho. And there are no gains... unlike what the other guy says.. it does not reduce turbo lag.

my uncle blown his Version 2 WRX's engine thrice when he raised the turbo bar too high.........
funny, i tot it does? when the excess pressure inside the turbine is released, it is effectively prevented from counteracting the direction of spool rite? this means the effect on the inertia of the spooling is reduced, or minimized at least. or is the function of the BOV aimed solely at prolonging the longevity of ur turbine?Originally posted by DoggieHowser:And there are no gains... unlike what the other guy says.. it does not reduce turbo lag.
