Actually it shouldn't matter, 'cause by the time the China made car make its way to the roads in Singapore, it will cost at least three times of what it would in China. In terms of price difference with the rest of the brands, it would be marginal. If I'm not wrong, the Kia Picanto (Korean) costs less than the Kelisa (M'sia). So made in China need not mean dirt cheap cars, at least not in Singapore!!Originally posted by tailslide:i think there's some hidden agenda y gov will probably never let china cars into the market.
imagine the price war thats gonna ensue if one can get to drive a car at dirt cheap prices multiplied by the number of ppl wanting to own cars. not only will the existing brands be affected, but i think the more dormant effect of price and traffic control would escalate to counter economic heights if this was ever allowed to happen (my imagination is running wild again)
even so, that doesn't address the concern that will be raised amongst the existing car importers about impending competition. already companies like toyota and honda are slashing prices for their base end cars to compete with kia and hyundai. imagine if competitors from china "chup jit kah" somemore. wah. free 4 all. good 4 consumers but bad for business and gov.Originally posted by DarthVdr:Actually it shouldn't matter, 'cause by the time the China made car make its way to the roads in Singapore, it will cost at least three times of what it would in China.
