agreed cos they are already proven in many automags and car programmes...Originally posted by hei_lancer:Come on guys....
This is singapore...... the people in ferrari and lambo know the faces of pple who are likely to buy their cars...
Chances are that, if they dun recognise u, they know u r not someone who can afford that type of cars.
Finally, have to agree that pple who buy these supercars do not need to test them...
that one ar can fight with a lotus ok...thats freaking fast car...ALOT faster than u imagine...Originally posted by Troy437:I really dun think they would let you test drive, unless you drove in with any car of similar value and say u intend to change car.
Even at the Renault show room the Renault Clio Sports 3 Litres V6 (Hatchback) they say cannot try oredi.
they still have to decide among ferrari, lambo, pagani, porche..........Originally posted by hei_lancer:Come on guys....

IMO, theres no point in test driving these cars. u can only feel 10% of their capablilities under normal test driving conditions and i think the ppl who got the dough to buy them shd only be concerned with the image they wanna be associated with before they juz go ahead and buy one.Originally posted by A_vErY_pOoR_gUy:they still have to decide among ferrari, lambo, pagani, porche..........
quite true. emotional benefits w those car are great.Originally posted by tailslide:IMO, theres no point in test driving these cars. u can only feel 10% of their capablilities under normal test driving conditions and i think the ppl who got the dough to buy them shd only be concerned with the image they wanna be associated with before they juz go ahead and buy one.

At first I thought this was the most ridiculous thing Ive heard, but on second thought this mindset really does apply to Singapore. Here more than 90% of Porsches on the road, regardless of a base model Boxster or a top of the line 996 Turbo are equipped with a tipronic 5-speed Automatic, killing much of the appeal of the vehicles to true enthusiasts, but apparently not to the more image conscious.Originally posted by tailslide:IMO, theres no point in test driving these cars. u can only feel 10% of their capablilities under normal test driving conditions and i think the ppl who got the dough to buy them shd only be concerned with the image they wanna be associated with before they juz go ahead and buy one.

Even the performance-oriented 996 GT3 MK1 and MK2 sold here have been specified with sunroofs (slightly ironic when considering that they are equipped with weight saving measures such as carbon composite seats and stripped out sound deadening!).
It really is a shame, as it doesnt matter whether your paying 65'000$ to buy a Suzuki Ignis Sport or 540'000$ to buy a Porsche GT2, you really would want to get a subjective feel behind the wheel of a car before you go on to commit to a purchase. Being denied a test-drive based on your image is ridiculous - I know personally a few wealthy individuals whom, judging by their first-hand appearence, do not look like the sterotypical millionaire. If I was refused a test drive in any cirumstance based on this joke known as local customer service (or more clearly, distinct lack of it in Singapore) I would walk away without hesitation. There are many high-end vehicles available on the market, but apparently true customer service is at a even higher premium here...
i think u hv to look at things from the seller's point of view too. if they allow just anyone to testdrive, it will only attract a lot of non-serious test drivers who are only there to get a feel of the cars. it's not so much about the seller being selective; it is being practical.Originally posted by Ali_Khl:At first I thought this was the most ridiculous thing Ive heard, but on second thought this mindset really does apply to Singapore. sad to say, i dun think even half of these ppl owning exotic cars can truely comprehend or appreciate the real prowess of their expensive rides. most juz wanna pose or pick up damn fast from traffic lites to grab attention.Originally posted by A_vErY_pOoR_gUy:quite true. emotional benefits w those car are great.
agreed. apparently, local marketing trends for these exotic machines seem to indicate that the majority of the well heeled would rather spend their time looking good in and feeling comfortable in their automatic supercars.Originally posted by Ali_Khl:At first I thought this was the most ridiculous thing Ive heard, but on second thought this mindset really does apply to Singapore.
