Petrol in tank

  Like to ask whether if we park our car in the sun for a week will the pretrol in the tank become lesser. Seem to be last week when i didn't drive my car. the pretro indicator went down after 1 wk wihtout driving. Guys and Gals here anyone encountered this or have this problem?

  petrol will evaporate from the tank if left under the sun for too long...dun be surprised...

  Better check the cap of the petrol tank.
  
  It is supposed to provide tight sealing to prevent evaporation of petrol from the tank.
  
  I think one way to check is when you just open up the cap you should hear the slight hissing sound (the evaporated petroleum gas always make the tightly sealed petrol tank in positive pressure). If not you better get the cap checked / or replaced (or else you lost petrol all the time = high consumption?).

  needle will also drop becos the pressure inside the tank is released thru the overflow pipe.

  It will, but its not significant. I remembered the toyota corolla, needle moved down a dash after 2 weeks of non usage. Car engine was start up every 4 days for a few mins.

  The indicator drop by almost half of a colum level indiactor. So what can it be the cause? Anything to do with the inlet piping , cap etc??? Need to figure out why. Liek that high pretol consumption. Anyone can help?

  sounds more like a slow leak.. or improper sealing of the tank.. could be dangerous... should go check...

  It is likely to have evaporated in the hot sun.
  I suggest dun waste money first.
  Simple way to test.
  Top up full tank and drive as per normal. Observe the fuel consumption.
  Then park somewhere where the floor has no stains and look again in the morning if got wet patch.
  
  Maybe someone in your family drove it without telling you. I have tried driving my dad's car in the middle of the night without telling him.
  
  He suspected so when I could not get the same lot he parked. Then I made another mistake when I tried to top up the fuel I used....the meter shows more fuel than the time I took it
