excess damage liability

Hi,
I have joined whizzcar last month, and they have said that my excess damage liability is 5000 SGD. Does this means that in case of an accident, I am sure to lose 5000 SGD? How can it we waived?

why dun u email them for an answer instead?? they are in better position to answer this question right?

it means that in the event that u are claiming own damages, u have to fork out the first $5,000 of the bill and ur insurance company will top up the rest. only way not to pay this is when u are not at fault and claiming other party's insurance. purpose of this is to deter ppl from claiming their insurance company, either deliberately to change new parts or from driving without due care to the well being of the car. especially for noob drivers or for expensive car owners.Originally posted by manish:Hi,

you should really emailed whizzcar to ask them.
I know there are other car sharing that allow member to buy CDW to reduce excess to couple of hundread instead of thousand -

th excess supposed to be 500.
but becos im below 25 yrs old and license not more than 2 yrs, got to pay another 2500.

As per the Whizzcar web site, "The excess amount will be automatically doubled should the member be at fault in any accident." Anyway I have emailed them my queries and waiting for their reply. Just now talked to them and apparently this figure is based on my driving skills during my test drive at their centre during my joining. (I passed my driving test at ubi (3A) two months back, but I have some experience driving back home).
Is there any private insurance which can cover this part? I have checked the web sites of cityspeed and carcoop, and apparently they have lesser amounts for this. -

Is that a clause that state if you are under 25years old and license less than 2 years then need to pay extra $2.5K? -

I am 32 years old. Some of the cars driven by me in whizzcar are hyndai getz (mostly), mitsubishi lancer. All the cars are almost new. I have checked with the cityspeed web site and they have an excess damage laibility of 3500 SGD, for members < 2 yrs experience. They do have a CDW (Collision damage waiver), but that is only for members with more than 2 yrs of driving experience -
