Hiya Guys, as I just got my license(auto) in April, I signed up with CitySpeed to get some driving experience before I decide to buy a new car. So far no complaints after I've used their cars about 10 times. Only downside is that sometimes when u pick up the car, the exterior is a bit dirty and most of the cars have scratches on the car body. Other than these points, the performace and handling is okie.
Any forumers here have any comments on CitySpeed Carsharing?

I've been a member since I got my license... more than a year already... just make sure that when it's time to renew the membership, check to make sure that they deduct the cost from your account... They made a mistake with mine and in the end, my account got suspended when I checked it... So far, the cars are good... except the Proton Wiras... had a bad experience with them... I'd stick to renting autos... Even found a set of P plates in the car once... used them and put them back... hehe... -
Yea...finding things in the car boot is quite common
A friend of mine who is also a CitySpeed Member once found a camcorder in the boot 
So far I've found parking coupons, an empty Ray-Ban sunglass case, a few CDs amongst others.
Another thing I've encountered is that once when I wanted to start using the car after I've sms'ed them to start the booking, the car didn't unlock. Only after I called the hotline to get them to unlock manually, did I finally manage to use the car. Same happened to me once when I returned a car on a public holiday.
I'll take note next year when my membership is up for renewal. I've been using my own P Plates when I rent from them...and the adheseiveness of the 2 triangles is starting to fade liao...

may i know the list of car they rend out...and whats the rates of renting them? does it go by months, days or year?

There was this one time... the previous person forgot to sms them to stop the booking... and I couldn't start it either... the tech guy got it open for me in 10 minutes... heh... imagine me waiting at the carpark there.. for the car to open... hehe... Thing is, I booked it at 7, but didn't get there till 8 plus... oops... guess that person had to pay a bit more... -
Me a member for abt 4 months liao.. Think the P-plate is i lost one,forgot to take out after using...
Dun rent the proton wiras, the car very sucky.. Rent at 2 different place also same conditions.. The Vios and the Lancers are quite gd.. If want manual go for the accents better..

I prefer the Corallas... damn nice to drive... Solunas also not bad... Looks like a lot of people leave their P Plates behind... heh... The Lancer and Sunny a bit underpowered, esp once you've tried the Corollas and Solunas...

Yeah the Mit Lancer is pretty good as that's the car I normally rent. The Fat Car (Corrolla) is a great drive as well..packs alot of power and space. Have yet the try out the Vios as the locations are pretty far from where I'm staying.

I normally go for the corolla... kinda like the side mirrors... they can fold away... hehe... the stations near my place have only one Vios... haven't tried it yet... I just like Toyota cars... hehe... have the right amount of engine power... Lancer still lacks a bit when I tried it...

Hmm,corolla my area dun have leh,must go very far,sad.. My area only got lancer and accent.. The ford laser at my hm dwnstair nia nw no more, move to jurong west, the new station... If wanna save fuel try Vios, me drive one whole night only pump 15 bucks nia..

Dont need to be considerate to them in terms of petrol cost. They have probably factored that into the price of renting the car to you and the milage which they charged you at 40 cent per km. For vios, let just put it this way, for every tank that you pump for them, (in terms on mileage charge), they would have collected enough money to pump 3 more tanks.
So enjoy flooring the pedal....that's the advantage over car rental that I can think of for car sharing....
And despite me pondering on how to make full use of the dear $0.40 per km mileage charge other than drag race at traffic lights, i came to the conclusion that there's simply no way that this $0.40 per km is cheaper than if I pump petrol myself... -
Bro, the petrol need to pump urself one rite? If less than 3/4 tank they will make u pay extra charges... Thats one of the regulations i think. Sometimes when i got the car only 1/2 tank nia.. Dunno who previously use liao never pump, me dun want complain nia..

I recently decided not to renew the membership with CitySpeed Car Sharing.
My reasons are
1) the 24hrs rental does not cover the weekends (Fri, Sat or Sun) - I usually rent for 24hrs.
2) the cars are becoming dirtier and more scratches.
3) The offer to renew is not tempting enough. Few hrs of free usage I felt is insufficient. -
For my P plates, I took out the sticky tapes and replaced them with those rubber suckers that people use for aquarium air tubes. Worked well so far.
Had been with cityspeed for 5 months already, so far no complaints, booked auto cars usually. Once forgot to take out my cashcard. Heng can recover. Sweat man.
I have a question. Lets say if I book a weekend package followed immediately by two days weekday on monday and tuesday, how do I go about it. Need to start and end 2 times? Or call them beforehand to arrange so I dun have to wake up early to end and start again. -

Correct. Pump petrol is free. 1)I am not ultilising often...think drove less than 10 time the last year with them...
2) I still not comfortable with the fact the I am paying 3 time more the mileage charge than I would paying for petrol (being a person who would cover quite a distance each time I have a car.)
Meantime, will stick to car rental now as I can arrange everything that needs to be done to one or two days (hopefully)
Also, may consider Whizzcar after looking at their range of car. Just wonder how's their car condition and waiting for an offer tempting enough for me to join...But the mileage charge is stopping me from entering into another car sharing membership...Why not they let us top us petrol ourselves and stop charging us for mileage!!! It's the mileage that's making the sharing very expensive... -
I was occasionally driving my uncle's car last time during my p-plate period , so I have the same problem as going through the hassle of taking out and putting them back. As for your question, no, if it is continuously, it is considered one booking, means you take the car from friday and return on tuesday, no need to start and end 2 times. The system will recognise. Just check that your end date / time is tuesday and your specific end time and not Mon morning. -
Ask you one question, what if for the whole year I drive less than 10 times (which was what happened), lagi wasted the membership....no choice, why drive if there is no need to. I rather incur only the fixed cost (of $100) rather than incurring the fixed cost and incurring progressive more variable cost (the additional cost you pay for driving, mileages, etc)Originally posted by rabbitbond:got a question...

Usually, if I got the time(not those kind of one hr booking), will not mind if the car is not filled up to 3/4, still got petrol to drive what...and if you get one that is exactly 3/4, you will still have to go and pump after the rental mah, so no difference, unless you hate to visit the petrol station lah
As for the procedures, just for info, you will pump petrol, use the Esso-mobil speedtag to pay for it and then drive off. You will not have to fork out your own cash. Simple as that.
