Change gearbox oil should take about 15 to 30 mins depending on car and mechanic.

I wouldn't want a car that needs a transmission oil change every 10K. Normally when the transmission oil is changed, its not really replaced totally. After a period of usage, the oil level would have dropped, and needs a top up. Other times, you do a full replacement of oil.

I think gearboax/transmission oil changes need not be so frequent, but, it's usually 10K for most motorists, and for those who have a particularly high standard of car maintenance, I'd say change it every 7k. I change mine every 7-10K.
Along with all the others like spark-plugs, and oil filter. Rotate and swap wheels, check and tighten handbrake lever, align steering wheel, check undercarriage and tighten any moving joints. -

transmission fluid hardly needs any replacement. juz top up will do. depending on whether ur car auto, manual, got traction aiding devices (lsd, sayc etc) u may have to changed those respective fluids more frequently then u would for a normal gearbox as they undergo more mechanical stress in daily operations. -
Read your servicing manual, difference makes will have slightly difference duration. However it is being recommended that the gear box oil to be changed every 40,000 km or 2 years whichever comes first.
It is better to consult ur servicing center or mechanic on doing so instead of choosing to DIY.

I have something to clarify:
1) Am i right to say that only auto transmisiion cars use auto transmission fluid (ATF) which needs to be changed at a certain regular interval?
2) What about manual cars? Do the manual transmission gear box need to be serviced? Any "manual transmission fluid" ? If so, at what time interval in general?
