Car Alarm System: Any Recommendations?

  Hello Good People of this Forum,
  
  It has long been in the back of my mind to install an alarm system, but, having watched others struggling to silence their alarm system that went bonkers, deters me until now.
  
  I have long noted that some systems can go off because of lightning from thunderstorm. Is there a more stable and reliable system that doesn't cry wolf over every little vibrations?
  
  Any recommendations? Something that has proximity sensors that detects anyone getting close to my vehicle?
  
  Kindly advise me in terms of features and price range.

  I think you are refering to those Viper alarm system whereby anything goes near the car, it will scream "This car protected by VIPER, BACK OFF!"

  Well, not necessarily that cheesy, but progammable voice warnings. I suppose these will cost well over $1,000?
