New Police SUV ?????

Wow, the title in the Straits Times on 3 June caught my eye, was really surprised till I saw the pix of the so-called 'SUV'. trust them to glorify a 4 dr pickup to that of a SUV. Even local distributor triangle Auto classifies the vehicle as a 4 dr pickup called D-Max.
Arent private vehicles with prefix Sxx xxxx x and pickups with Gx xxxx and that Police vehicles with QX xxxx ? If the so-called SUV is infact real then all Rx 300 or so vehicles will be sporting the G plates soon
.
So sad that in sing u got to glorify a pickup to justify putting it on the road, wonder if other bidders in their tender also submitted pickups to be SUVs ?
Anyway juz have 4 x 4 qualify as SUV then WRX & Evos must be SUVs too.

I feel it's juz crap as 1640mm overall ht is that of a typical spec of pickups in singapore, any pickup can go to construction site , wat a joke

wat to do? singaporeans are just hard to pls. get a rex for tp and pple are making noises that its expensive & police doesn't need such vehicle. pple never see the fact that rex are alot more cheaper then those of volvo s40 t4 or bmw 3 series..
though i believe they could haf get an better suv though. of those like wat scdf are using. but then again, if they were to get those makes, are singaporeans going make noise again?
get an better vehicle, make noise..get a cheaper one also make noise..now where's the logic? -
SCDF using Isuzu trooper which is a real off-roader rather than pickup 'SUV'.
All diesel vehicles are noisy regardless of they're cc as it's juz the way it's manufactured and there juz aint any sound insulation like private vehicles.
Juz hate the fact that a pickup wif G plate is called SUV wat a joke. -
The govt bodies dont buy their vehicles off the racks. They go thru a public tender exercise if i m not wrong and the matter of fact is the lowest or second bidder usually secures the bid.
So it's not a matter of how ex the volvos or beemers are as they are not on the same weighing scale when it comes to price. It's a matter of making a name for the badge and at wat cost they're willing to go down to. -
when will the mata buy helicopter...or if they have, why not using it har?

Y woudl they need a chopper? how many buildings have helipad for them to use in sing? i can only think of hospitals and army camps. better for them to stick on the roads.

agree, we have to follow 60 / 70-km/r for g plate pickup and mata can be speedster in their g plate 'SUV' wat a way to break the law juz becoz they have the POLICE emblem and sticker all over their pickup. Even the SSyanyong Musso would qualify now as a 'SUV' i guessed
I guessed next time we see a pickup/SUV speeding down the road, as norm the reason would be they are attending to an urgent case. Sometimes i wonder are we as stupid to blare our horn when we know that we have a breakin at our home our do we pick up the phone and call for help? So sirens are to tell law breakers i'm coming plz go off -

I guessed that the SPF cannot make it man..... so lame 2 use a G plate pickup as a SUV. I guessed they would be better off wif a land rover, multi terrain and real 4 x 4.
Well as per norm, the vehicles acquired are there for show and to utilise them.......hum.... well how many construction sites do we see our neighbourhood cops enter each day?
A case of study - do we see the red rhinos charging up the patches of HDB blks every other day? I find that the fire bikes are more practical. -
