Then you'll be referring to cars that still run on carburettors.Originally posted by alexkusu:hmm..what about cars that dont have ECU systems? Lets say..an ordinary 97 accord?
erm...my friend attached one to a 97 accord and another attached a timer to his 97 prelude. Another attached one to his 92 Prelude..seems to be a trend with Hondas.Originally posted by ditzy:Then you'll be referring to cars that still run on carburettors.![]()
oh..but how about non-turbo cars? my car freak friend said that turbo timer is also good for normal/non-turbo cars.Originally posted by ditzy:For a car with a turbo, the turbo timer is used to regulate oil pressure supply to the turbo bearings while the turbo cools down.
If the engine is switched off prematurely, the bearing has no oil and overheats, the fact that other parts also get hot is also a noted point.
Theres a diff between the stock ecu and an aftermarket ecu, in this case, you're most likely referring to an aftermarket one. They come with a flashy display that fits on the dashboard and tells you this an that.Originally posted by alexkusu:erm...my friend attached one to a 97 accord and another attached a timer to his 97 prelude. If theres no turbo fitted in the car, then the timer time what one?Originally posted by alexkusu:oh..but how about non-turbo cars? my car freak friend said that turbo timer is also good for normal/non-turbo cars.
dunno eh..they say let engine cool down..then got cool sound like 'chuuuu'...I think it makes car easy to steal since engine still running while owner is gone.Originally posted by ditzy:If theres no turbo fitted in the car, then the timer time what one?![]()
Maybe they retrofit the timer to an oil sump or something.Originally posted by alexkusu:dunno eh..they say let engine cool down..then got cool sound like 'chuuuu'...I think it makes car easy to steal since engine still running while owner is gone.
You can keep it.Originally posted by alexkusu:Thanks Ditzy

The turbo timer is connected to the handbrake and will perform its count down function only when the handbrake is up. Once the handbrake is disengaged, the turbo timer immediately switches the engine off. Thats the anti-thief function of the timer.Originally posted by alexkusu:dunno eh..they say let engine cool down..then got cool sound like 'chuuuu'...I think it makes car easy to steal since engine still running while owner is gone.
not all Turbotimer is connected to handbrake.. most are not mine too. i guess e workshop are lazy.. anyway there is no need for a turbo timer for e NA car.. unless u wan to show off . but also dont know wat u can show off.. onli a turbo timer..Originally posted by dansplace:The turbo timer is connected to the handbrake and will perform its count down function only when the handbrake is up.
