Thank you wbucket for your sharing. Base on what ah_veo shared, the interest rate of 3% & loan "lock-in" of 3 years seems higher than what I understand is common.Originally posted by wbucket:I guess most likely you will need to loan at least a considerable amount (usually 80% or more) for at least a considerable period (usually 7 years or more) to earn those things.
The more and longer you loan, the more they earn. And they will bond you so that you can't re-finance to a lower interest rate loan. And prehap have to take their in-house insurrance for some time too. These are about all the "catch" I could think of.
Basically they have to make a living too. Good luck on your car hunt!Originally posted by 1969:Thank you wbucket for your sharing. Base on what ah_veo shared, the interest rate of 3% & loan "lock-in" of 3 years seems higher than what I understand is common.

Hi wbucket. The high booking deposit could be only applicable for this promotion.Originally posted by wbucket:Booking deposit so high?? I only paid 500 for mine.

And I thought I signature would be clear enough. Anyway, I went for budget ride, Perodua Kelisa.Originally posted by 1969:Opps.My bad.
Would you mind sharing what was your choice? As I'm looking around for my first car, I would like to hear opinions from others of their decision making process.
Thank you

Hi wbucket. Thank you for sharing your considerations. I have tested the Civic, City as well as the Jazz. The ride comfort as well as handling/feedback is much better for Civic and much less so for the Jazz. My initial thoughts for Honda is that it's pricey not as " feature-rich " as its peers, i.e. Civic vs Mazda3, City vs Latio, Jazz vs Mazda2/March. In addition, it appears to be that the insurance is one of the highest for Nihon-jin cars.Originally posted by wbucket:And I thought I signature would be clear enough. Anyway, I went for budget ride, Perodua Kelisa.
My Max budget was 61.5k then, aiming for a hatchback. Aveo wasn't really value for money at that time (End of 2004), and Ignis just got taken off the shelf (My first choice). So rather go for a budget ride for my first car. Mount kerb, ramp lancer, scratch here and there, still don't feel so heart pain. Plus got a couple of spare cash for do funny things to the car.
I tested lancer too, but was going for the cute image. And lancer was 62-63k then, so a little steep. If you are going for Mazda, did you look at Honda? In my opinion, Honda car are generally good if you can afford it.
I did hear of comments that Mazda car was just over-priced.Originally posted by 1969:......As my current mindset is strong for " value-for-money " type of cars, Honda is not a 1st choice at this time.
Also, I tested the Lancer and found the drive ok, though I needed to pedal to metal when going up slope. However, the feedback on Lancer as well as Mitsubishi is slanting towards not-so-good, so...
