for me, i'll give way...for those who nv signal n wanna change land abruptly, i'll speed up...
i signal my intention, out of 10 drivers, ard 7 will give way.. -
Me too......I almost 100% give way. But yesterday while driving home, I encountered this driver who stepped on her accelerator on me. I noticed that the lane that I was travelling on had an accident ahead so I signalled to change lane. She didn't budge ley.
And then "ah nia" got stuck for a while because too close already.
I think like you, my success rate is also 7 out of 10. -

that time at aye, i want to change lane then i got notice this jaguar lady driver on the lane i want to switch to is behind me.
i purposely wait a while to see if she want to overtake or not. as infront of her got alot of space.
after a while, i see her dont have the intention to overtake me, so i signal left, want to go change into her lane infront of her.
the moment i signal, and start moving in a little, she sped up to overtake me... knn...

P-plate on Accord here (looks real funny on the roads). 90% of the time people gas on me. But there's still the 10% who give way and I'm thankful for that.

In my opnion, and from all of my experiences on the roads in Singapore, I signal NOT BECAUSE I'm going to switch lanes and others will give way; I signal because it is the right thing to be seen doing if there's a TP around.
Even if there are no TPs around, and there are no cars behind me, my right hand will automatically flick the switch. It's habitual.
Out of 10 times that I signalled my intention to switch lanes, 8 times cars behind on the other lane will speed up to overtake. So when I swicth lanes, I'll wait till there are no more cars behind, then, I'd still signal and switch lanes.
If I was a Traffic Cop, and I catch anyone not using their signal lights, I'd stop them, get them to open their door, and I'd GOD DAMN BREAK THEIR SIGNAL SWICTHES CLEAN OFF THE STEERING COLUMN!!!!!!!
Now, he/she has every reason NOT to signal. No signal switch.

my point is that singapore driver almost all like this. people dun wan to move into your lane, u stay same speed.
people want to cut into your lane, u speed up. dun wan people to cut infront of you. machiam like one car cut infront of you will cause you to be late.

For me iwould sometimes not signalling becoz no car or either the cars r too far away from me ..
Every time, i shall wait to see how, if the car bebind stayed at that speed ..then i shall speed pass the driver and in the same time signalled once and there i entered the lane..
Why i did i do that ?becoz when i signalled my intention 9/10 would suddenly accelerate and not giving way ..

make exceptions for buses and heavy vehicles...
coz i dun wan to be stuck behind them...
anyway... think its habit for me to signal when i wan to change lane...
think its a good habit... signal early before changing...
i see quite a few ppl signal then change lanes immediately...

But I still use the signal light so that I won't get in trouble with the TP.
Got in trouble once... $70 man, not worth it. -

I also do not change lane frequently but when I do, don't know why kena drivers who will speed up one. The worst type is after they speed up, you go behind them, they slow down and then we started to crawl instead of drive. No need to step on paddle also can. -

Apart from not signalling, there is another problem I notice: A lot of motorists don't know how to merge went entering an expressway from a slip road.
I always see vehicles (private cars mostly) coming onto an expressway from a slip road, and as they approach the expressway's left lane (lane 3), they slow down until almost stop. WHen I slow down to give way for them to merge, they also slow down. Are they stupid or something?
Some idiots because of the hesitation of the idiot in front not daring to merge, will cut out from behind and merge dangerously.
Classic case of idiots, creating more idiots. -

you guys got notice they on expressway left lane drive very close to each other.
not much space to cut in between them. if infront sudden brake, behind 1 can brake in time? -

if people signal i will give way if i can.
If my speed too fast and it require me to brake hard or what then no.
When i signal, 5 out of 10 will give way.
But got a few cases where i signal with space for me to move in and taxi speed up and horn or high beam me purposely... -
most singaporeans dont give way. they will step on the accelerator.

mi bus driver always speed up when he sees the car in front signal... and u know lah, when bus speeds up... hard to brake in the nick of time... so many times mi got a near fright when the bus almost hit the car in front as the driver veered into our lane

About cabbies, I still remember when it was the flat rate type. And even like going to JB from Bukit Timah....got that shared cab. Each of us only pay 50 cents. Oops
