because my work is from 730am to about 6pm on weekdays.... so the timing is quite alright for OPC and I can save on monthly, insurance, road tax...
from 730am to 6pm, I don't to use the car at ALL. it's sitting in the carpark collecting dust. so, might as well making sure that it's not costing too much. can save, save lor. -
Main purpose for having OPC...Save money lah...Save $2.5K per year to be exact.

can anyone explain how does an OPC save on insurance and the sort? i thought the only saving is the Coe rebate?
Is the road tax also lower? wow?

Savings on :-
Insurance = no idea (heard 10% cheaper)
Road Tax = S$50 per year (normal S$756)
COE rebate = S$17000 (excluded interest saving)
Scarp value = same

My workplace is 15 mins walk from home, most days stay in the office. When need to go out, then drive. Transport claim covers the OPC day coupon, so its a good option for me. Untill next posting then see if better to convert back to normal car. Its a good scheme for people who dun need to drive all the time but still want a car.

frankly my opinion is that OPC car is well worth the money.
especially you dun need the car too often but somewhat noticebly regular.
the best scenario is that your work place is very close to your house.
I have a fren who park his OPC car in a carpark near his workplace...
so once he's off from work, he get his OPC Getz to places. The next morning he will park at the carpark b4 7am, then to work...
hehe, the problem is that you need discipline to wake that early

My logic as below for reference.
1.Work in town area. Easier, cheaper and more convenient (hassle free) to get to work place by Public Transport- MRT.
2.Time of work...normal standard 8-6 kind of job. By the time reach home, makan dinner, just nice 7pm can take car go happy liao.
3.$17k saving= how many ($20) day coupon u can buy? Plus other savings that others had already mentioned, One just need to do some simple calculation to see how much $$ one can save.
And by the way, I definitely can afford a normal car.. just tt i dont see the need for one if OPC makes more sense to me.
So, to that person who mentioned tt "shame" word,
I have serious doubt on your reasoning and analytical capability.
But anyway...to each his own.
By the way...if u think I own an OPC, Nope....You are wrong. Just like you, I dont own a car..But I see the logic in me owning 1 OPC in future rather than a normal car. Even if one day, I chose not to buy an OPC but a normal car, It will defintely be due to some logic reasoning rather than your outrageous "shame logic" -
OPC has brought car ownership possible to the masses ... so many pple I know have bought them.... think about it just pay $200 a month you get to use a new car over teh weekend definitely beat renting a car loh!!
