RX7 FC With Twin Turbo Engine Legal In Singapore? Pls Advice

  Hi guys ! I m thinking of saving up to buy a 1993 Model Used Rx7 FC3S importing from japan. It cost 8900 USD though. I m still rather a newbie to cars so i like to ask some questions. It come with a twin turbo engine, therefore i like to ask whether is it legal in singapore to have turbo engine? What are the procedures in singapore to own a car? Like importing it from oversea, what other stuff i need to get. Eg COE and what else? how do i go about doing it. Thanks guys if any help is rendered.

  Hi. For your info, not sure what you need to import but the car model that ure talking bout is legal in Singapore...in fact, planning to buy one for myself, but not imported though. Buying from another singaporean..

  i dun think the LTA allow the import of used car. so u can forget abt it.
  even if can, by the time u pay for all the taxes, inspections fee and COE, u will have enough money to buy a new RX8 liao.

  As long as your car is more than 3 yrs old in the rego from its home country, you cannot import it in.

  all i can say is if u get it to SG....make sure u have alot of $$ for petrol,maintainence...and most impt...repairs when it breaks down

  First you must get LTA approval... Then you must pay the taxes which is very very high... 110% on top of your COE, plus insurance and road tax.. then you must ship it here.. must pay for the shipping , then port tax and import tax... Then dont know whatever tax...
  
  at end better try to find the car in singapore and mod it...

  not possible, car is older than 3 yrs old. Sg forbids importing of cars older than 3 yrs old.
  
  unless under the classisc scheme which requires your car to at least be 35 yrs old.

  think abt a brand new one instead, tat ll b ard the same price and a little higher i think... (after all ur taxes).
  
  normally ppl dont import 2nd hand cars frm overseas lah...
  there is no point.

  there isnt any brand new RX7.
  
  Your only solution is to ship the last model of the RX7 here before the end of this year.
  
  If I am not wrong, the last model is Spirit-R (not sure if correct spelling) and it was released in 2002.
  
  So 3 yrs will make this the final yr to get it.
  
  Bear in mind tax is $10K straight away. So immediately your car is $10K more expensive.

  hmmm..i have not come across any official article regarding a new model for the rx7.

  there's a post in 'rx7 rx8',has an article about a rumoured new 7.
  but i did read about the new rx7 in autocar magazine last year. they say it will be a shortened rx 8,looking at 400hp at least. I say y not? the new supra on the way will have at least 500hp!
  in case someone tells me that jap cars are limited to 280hp. well, japs are going export oriented, so they will develop models to suit international demands, whilst still making 280hp cars for their domestic market. In the US, there's a v8 nissan cedric, called the m45. it's not available elsewhere. i love the globalising japs!
