17" s/rims ???

  hi i am getting a Tuscani and it comes with a 16"s/rim. should i change to a 17"s/rims ? will it slower the car and incease the FC(fuel comsumption) does a 17" help to improve the handling or performance? or is it juz for nice? and how much will it affect the FC???

  wat performance are u talking about?
  
  car is already so slow liao. change larger rims will make it crawl and increase fc. handling is relative. u get larger contact patch, but ur unsprung weight increases. want better handling rather u change to a set of better tires.
  
  for show or "performance"? quite obvious rite?

  17" depends on the weight.. but FC will be affected obviously... no difference to performance.. better handling...
  
  Just for info.. if you into FC... it can range from 7-11KM depending on driving condition and style...

  That one is up to individual preference.. bigger rims is always high consumption as more contact with the ground...

  so u hav decided to get the tuscani?? no point changing to 17"... must as well fork out more for the V6 model... anyway FC sure higher... but at least V6 confirm can giv ya better performance.... consider abt this...

  but for V6 the road tax will stomp me after the petrol killed me... LOL
  Is it? even if it is 17" forged rims ? FC still high ?? but anyway if i dun change it also come in 16" stock so 16" and 17" FC not much diff one ??
  for the look wise 16" and 17" will have much diff ?

  i've posted my comments in ur thread... but i missed out something which may be impt unless u are driving alone or with a partner most of the time.... tuscani has a very very pathetic rear leg room... there is hardly any space tat i hav to leave our of my legs up onto the seat... sitting sideways!! furthermore, the sloping rear window is so low tat ur head will hav to tilt down... if its a bumpy ride then good luck to the rear passenger(s)... but in any case, such sporty coupe are common to hav pathetic rear space... it depends on the number of passengers u usually ride with... cant imagine having a family outiing with a few of them squeezing behind... somemore pay more for insurance... not worth it... just my point of view...

  ya i know wat u saying. but any coupe is same as i know.
  integra also small rear, celica also. all 2 doors are coupes are mostly like that la.
  hahaa but ok la this one only me driving. my family got another family car.

  hi ZC11, 17" rims will give a better road holding but tires are very import. before change to 17" make sure the offset value of the rim is acceptable for your car and what the range of brands and types of tire you can choose in near future. a set of light weight rims will give a better FC than a heavier one.
  for FC, consider install some additional air intake valves, change of air filter will also helps. as better air intake means better combustion especialy using better grade of fuel eg. Vpower of shell. fine tuning of the car also helps. just my own experience.

  zc11, offset value is the distance that affect the distance between centre of left and right tyres.
  if the offset is wrong, the turning radius may be affected, the life of tyres may affected. do consult your rim or tyre suppliers for more detail. you can check your rims offset by looking the inter side of the rims, there is a set of number.

  offset got only 3 kinds. Positive (+), Negative (-) and Neutral. they are measured in mm.
  
  taking neutral as a guide, imagine u chopped the rim into half rite across the diameter. a neutral offset means that the center hub sits at the same dist from the inner rim face (e side always facing inside) and the outer rim face (the side u can c from outside).
  
  now, if the center hub shifts towards the outer rim, u'll get positive offset. the more u go, the more positive ur offset. the more it shifts towards the inner rim from the neutral position, the more negative ur offset. eg, +40 means the rim center hub is 40 mm closer to the outer face of ur rims from the neutral position, -30 means the center hub is 30 mm closer to the inner face from the neutral position (giving u the deep "dish" look).
  
  each rim manufacturer will manufacture a number of same rims with diff offsets because each car comes with different dist between the fender and lugs. offset will determine if ur rims protrude outside of ur car width (too much negative offset), hide into ur car (too positive), or stay nicely where its supposed to be; almost in line with the fenders (dats the rim with the correct offset for ur car).
