Jap vs conti @ high speed

is it true that all japanese cars feel very light and vibrates alot at average high speeds?
average high speeds maybe 150-200km/h..
i've always heard pple saying that continental cars are very comfortable even at high speeds like 200-250.. blah blah..

conti cars are usually built more "solid" with firm weldings and thick sound proofing to make cruising an altogether more pleasant experience.
jap cars on the other hand are generally geared towards functionality based on an uncomplicated platform with reasonable sturdiness.
both has its pros and cons IMO. being distinctively heavier, the conti cars to me feels more "chunky" to drive around singapore traffic and they are by no means more agile then a jap car. i've personally never had problems dispatching a merc s320 or even a s500 from standstill at traffic lites. but i ever had the experience of being overtaken by a merc s320 at speeds in excess of 2++ km/hr along the NS. my car was already "bouncing" on every little undulation on the road but the merc looks like its "gliding" over the roads effortlessly.

oh, thanks for the reply, but what about those japanese sports cars like skyline, evo, supra... definitely still uncomfortable at high speeds?
what about the new generation of japanese family sedans? ive been car shopping and found that the new ones have the continental feel and correct me if i'm wrong.. but i somehow find them heavier than their previous makes..

most continental cars like ford,audi,volvo have anti roll bars.it contributes alot to the solid feel and better handing compared to japanese cars..evos n rex dun ride well becus of their stiff suspension setup,they sacrifice ride comfort for handling..

but u got the 2nd part rite i suppose. most performance cars comes with a spring/ damper rate more suitable for a wider range of straightline and cornering driving scenarios as compared 2 continental cars that are built for high speed cruising and comfort.
of course, there are the japanese equivalent of comfort vehicles such as the lexus ES, GS and LS as well as the Q infiniti etc. much as there exists "performance" oriented continental rides such as the M3 and SL55AMG. but somehow, the european sports cars tend to have an inherent advantage at high speeds owing mainly to weight, displacement and clever use of suspension tweaks. -
yea that's true.. most cars nowadays have anti roll bars as a standard item. Quite visible in the engine compartment when u lift the hood up.

tailside i dun agree lor,jap cars like vios,liana,and even the civic r decent enuff cars,but they do not have anti-roll bar..i've driven my friend's altis b4 and though it does has anti-roll bars,the car still 'floats' at triple digit speeds!!no car is ever perfect, so i think a gd handling car that doesnt compromise ride comfort is more practical,say the mazda 3 or the new focus,though both r pretty slow on the straight line..

anti roll bars are those "curly wurly" bars linking the left and rite wheels in front and at the rear. u gotta lay flat on ur belly to see. -

in any case, my point is that anti-roll bars, as the name implies, prevents body roll (sideways movement). and this occurs only in cornering and lane switching at high speed. whether ur car floats or not (vertical oscillations) when traveling in a straightline at hi speeds depends on ur spring/damping rates and how they counteract with the ground at those speeds. not ur lateral roll resistence (via anti roll bars).
