Difference between Lexus & Toyota Engine

Hihi,
Jus wondering if there are any difference between the engines used in Lexus & those found in Toyota.
Cos they are both the "same company"...also will like to know where is Lexus made in - still in Japan? cos toyota is made in Thailand now.

Marketing ploy. Can't sell as a Toyota? Throw a few more 0s at the back and call it a Lexus. Then people who want to act high class will buy it. -

Altis - 1.6L Inline 4 VVT-i
Same crap... different badge.
Where they are made, really depends on where your // or official importer brings them in from.
There are plants in Japan, as well as other parts of Asia.
Do some reseach on your own. You'll get a lot more info than just asking for the info here.

The main difference is that Lexus get the 6 cylinders engine while Toyota get the 4 cylinders engine.
Except for the Toyota Crown which is a V6, most of the other Toyota is a 4 cylinder. Not sure about the Lexus equilvent Toyota like the Harrier and the Altezza.
The reason Toyota models is using the 4 cylinders is to make sure that toyota dont step into and jeopardise the Lexus market. Ohter than that, the extras that you are paying goes to the lexus equipments. -
no doubt some models & engine...etc look slimilar but
there is a difference between Lexus & Toyota if...

Lexus is perfectly tuned for quietness and stability and same engine as toyota ,to say they are more refined.A lexus worker told me .

IS200 - 2.0L 6-cylinder
Altezza - 2.0L 4-cylinder
RX300 - 3.0 V6
Harrier - 2.4L 4-cylinder -
There will be differences definitely. Lexus as you all know is targetted at the more premium market therefore it is only wise to differentiate Toyota cars from Lexus cars by better engines, higher tech gagdets, better afterservice and so on, if not it beats the purpose of having a Lexus. I believe the engines used are the same for equivalant models for both lexus and toyota. Just that we gotta compare the various Lexus models with the equivalant toyota models.
RX300 has the equivalant 3.0L toyota Harrier too (which is just not popular here), just like the ES300 has the
Toyota Windom and the LS430 has the Toyota Celsior. Exactly the same car, different badge thats all. -

Lexus is only made in 2 country in the world that is Japan and only recently in Canada. For Asia market, Lexus is 100% made in Japan with the highest quality the Japs can obtain and the QC. Some says the old Gs300 and Camry are same but its way different. GS300 is so quiet and stable even on high speed. For the comfort, Lexus uses Koni dampers which has much better handling and lasting and are Europe made whereas toyota uses Japan brand of shock which some are Japan made and some are not like m'sia or thailand.
Most of Toyota engine are Japan made, even like Vios to Camry. Same like other Jap manufacturer. The body or other might made somewhere but Japan always keep their engine at based at Japan.
Lexus uses a more different engine from Toyota. The engine is more refine, cleaner, quieter and more powerful. Lexus engine is only available on few top selected toyota model. Other than that, its almost can be said that the engine is made just for Lexus brand. Lexus V8 engine is one of the most quiet around although it is not the most powerful one.
Where toyota can be made anywhere in the world, South Africa, China, US, Brazil, Japan, thailand, Indonesia... depending on model and local needs.
If Lexus is not up to that standard, how would it be able to snatch US and european market from BMW or Mercedes.
Even mercedes have high or lower quality one... C class are mostly made in Africa and only S classs are with the german made. -
Lexus is just like a more pretigious brand for Toyota which i believe is more for the foreign market especially the western region, same goes for Nissan's Infini or something like that. You built a car of the highest quality available, bearing the most radical design ever, set to take over the world by storm... and you name it after your... say maybe, your chinese name? just doesn't sound right, eh? Thus the world of branding, and it's a proven marketing tool. A brand alone came make a difference, it's how you use it to appeal to the mass.
