juz pass my licence.. what car shd i buy?

yo people..erm i just pass my licence and thinkin of gettin a new car.. in mind i have Lancer Evolution IX... 280bhp, 250km/hr topspeed... there is 2 model GT(5M/T), and GSR(6M/T)... The GSR cost $20,000 more than the GT which cost $135,988(incld COE)..any advice??

you can easily power slide both cars, but requires more from you in the gt. the gsr will practically drive itself. so it depends on what your driving aspirations are. ultimately, the gt will allow you more room to develop as a driver. simply becos it is harder to drive fast round a corner.

put another way. granny can smoke beng round corners in gsr. but maybe not so in gt. -
before u start to tink of getting a car.. look at how much the insurance gonna be.... if u r below 27 less den 2 yrs license... get ready to pay around 4K a yr... unless u r damn rich N dun care about expenses.
for a beginner... get a normal car... get use to the situation n SG... get some more exp... -

Hey boy, let me advise you when just obtain your driving licence you have to hang two underwear on your car windscreen leh (one in front and one rear corner ) hor!!
Dun you think that it is shame to hang two underwear inside ur evo... It is such a shame to drive evo with hanging two underwear..
My suggestion is maybe you can try to buy a tricycle and it would be better.. And moreover I think with ur skills you are also not fit to drive evo.. So i strongly advice you to buy a tricycle it would suits you better... Pls dun buy a evo to create another accident on the road lah.....

2 p plate for a yr or so onli... guess it's alrite...
well i wil be careful gagaboy!! even the most skillful racer wil get into accident.. so i guess it's not abt a newbie driver wil be more prone to get into accident wif he drive an evo onot.. in fact i find that drivers wif experience in driving tend to be more dangerous than newbie driver.. newbie wil be more careful on da road... -

newbie drivers like you are tend to be very kayu!! dun you think so.. I am not to discourage you but it is really not worth it buy an evo even it is reg. under your dad.. Yes, the insurance may be under your dad name but your are under the driver name and with ur age and driving experience it will cost alot.. I strongly recommend you buy the GSR. It's a good reliable car for a new driver to practice in.

But my advice for u is... can a smaller car... train up till u have enough confidence and skills to handle.
Anyway... even if insurance under ur father name, your name wont be accepted as second owner coz u need at least 1-2 yrs license exp. So without ur name in the insurance if anything happen u wont be able to claim and if claim under ur father name... his NCD will be gone and he will need to pay full price. Think for ur dad first... dun let him get involve. Cozz its either u bang or other car bang u...
Dun tink of getting a evo now.. wait another 3-4 yrs.. by den will have much nicer evo 11... lolz... -

Experience starts only after U have gotten your license.....maybe drive around in ur dad's ride to familiarise with the roads... i suggest you get an Evo/Rex after u've gotten rid of your P plate... its not abt being a laughing stock or wadsoeva...like someone said earlier on.. a 4WD isn't easy to handle for a newb....and we wouldn't wanna see u on News. + The insurance's freakin ex for a newb...but of course..it wouldn't matter at all if u're dad's rich.

as regarding to the topic starter:
Go train on a wrx or 1.8 ralliart or any cars at least 1.8 with turbo.. learn how to handle them before going to evo 9.. evo 9 may be nice... but its a lean mean machine under the cover... its not that really ez to control for a beginner... unless u r going to travel max 90km/h... follow all standard traffic rules and regulations. IF u can afford it... y not.. but dun tink of trying anything funny with the car... get more exposure and exp.. no kung ho car stunt k? juzz drive normally...
ps: this guy remind me of 2 NSF i saw duing my army days. 1 drive evo 7 another evo 8.. both under 23... kNs.. so rich... NSF.. wearing No.3 as clerk... their family is damn rich sia... -
actually wat other forumnite say quite valid. Buy lauya car n pratice 1st..then buy good car. I went off to get a subaru when I just got my license. Actually..i got the car so I can do my pratical driving test. Now, my car have a few disagreements with certain walls and pillars....damage not too bad..but imagine if u had an accident which total ur car? Anyway, final decision is up to u....if u dun like the car, u can always trade it in right?
