Honda Civic VTI or Mazda 3?

Am looking to get either the Honda Civic VTi or the Mazda 3. Hope to get some advice from you all here.

I always tell myself if i were to get stuck choosing between two cars,
the one to get would be the one where I WON'T be staring out from driver seat thinking "actually the other car looks really nice......'' each time i see the other car goes past.

toyota altis or the civic.. the altis looks slightly better to me too
the altis would definitely be more frugal while the civic is a little more powerful
Mazda 3 weighs in at approx 1.3 tons. And it has an engine that produces less power than both the above(i think). so FC would be slightly poorer too. It is however the better looker overall.. -

If it's just between the Civic and the Mazda 3, and your objective is, 1. FC, 2. Power, followed by 3. Looks. Then I'd suggest the Civic, it beats the Mazda 3 in the first 2 points. If looks was more important to you, then that's really your choice of which you find nicer. -
tahe the civic. definitely better fuel consumption. And tuning parts and accessories are in abundance from many well known honda tuners. and come resale time, hondas hold value well. the mazda is just so so. even though it shares the same base components as the focus,it is leagues behind the focus. try the focus too, that's another good one. so civic or focus.Originally posted by ghostaccord:I have test driven both cars but can't make up my mind.

I prefer the honda.
Hondas seem to be damn durable, my dad has a 91' concerto, still going strong with regular maintanance. -
mazda 3. simply because its actually a ford in jap disguise.

oh..that explains why I saw a ford focus today that resembles a mazda 3 so much! i thought it was industrial espionage.

I agree that the Mazda 3 do look better overall .... Mainly due to the curves it has?

I think the Ford Focus is definitely out .... The spare parts are really expensive .... But I think it really depends on how your drive the car .... if you were to pump the accelerator so very often .... I doubt it will be good for the engine .... no matter what car it is? -
i plug for ford and hence, the mazda 3. i drove a small ford fiesta 1.25l down from glasgow to london. Thats a journey of 10 hours+, constantly pushing speeds of 110mph (175km/h), and averaging about 90mph the whole trip. The car was totally trouble free inspite of the constant high speeds, and with 3 people and their assorted vacation luggage. That, I would feel, is a pretty good showing for a car. so yup, ford cars, i like.

If can the Altis ... you wouldn't regret ... as my couz says 'No matter how you "Loot" the Altis the fuel meter just wouldn't go down!' -
I have heard that Ford's engine are pretty good too. However, the extra cash that I have to come out with if something major happens to the engine kinda turn me off. Honda's servicing is relatively cheaper (from the bills that my dad got for servicing his Accord). Anyway, greatly appreciate your feedback! I have to say the altis looks terrible with bodykit and all that crap. Why not try the Renault Megane 1.6?
