u will feel the difference between 95 power and 98 power.
98 gives your car the thrust u never experience before...
95 ok...
92 does not 'push' your car and in the end, the Fuel Efficency becomes lower....as a result u have to pump one day earlier than using 98... -
my dad thinks the family's Mitsu Colt runs better on 98 than 95 because the car is already dragging it's feet at 98.
move off a mild slope the engine rpm must reach 3500min then can move easily.

this car abit like auto car ....it's a CVT. too many ppl ? nope. standard family of 4. sometimes when 3 ppl also can hear this situation.
even on lvl roads when my dad wanna overtake other cars also got this prob.
all he does is complain, guess he nvr figured out the reason why my mum sold the old car. -
98 comes with better quality and the mixture is better tio prolong and at the same time lubricate your car engine. 95 and 98 diff is in the mixture contents.
due to quality diff.. sure will the diff in price.. its like drining normal mineral water and pierre water..although both r water but pierre is treated differently for diff taste -
It all depends on your driving style and car type.
E.g. You like to accelarate fast, but drive a small cc car (1.5). you would tend to press hard on the acc. in that case it would be more advisable to use 98 as it has more "thrust". But if you just use it for transport and don't care less, than 95 good enough for most cars. -
my personal experience as follows. may or may not apply anyone.
All things being equal (e.g. load, tire pressure, constant RPM bla bla bla)
95: feels sluggish. consumption went up instead of down. car feels like it doesn't wanna move.
98: smoother, car feels "lighter". lower consumption than 95.
I drive a Mit Lancer 1.6 Manual, and i do Shell. For some maths, at the point of writing, 95 is going for $1.423, 98 is going for $1.493. If you pump 40L,
95 costs $56.92
98 costs $59.72
For a difference of $2.80, I'd go for 98 anytime.
Yes there're some who'd probably say, "yes its $2.80 difference per tank, but have u considered how many tanks, per week, per month, per year, per generation ...... until the next Halley's comet how much you can save?" For that, I have no answer. -
how old is ur lancer? coz usually newer car got better mileage using 95. it oso depends on one driving pattern, the time u struck in the jam.

my friend pump 92 today, then evening he pump 98 in it. can petrol mix together? no harm right?

yes.... a car engine built to have RON 95 petrol will work somewhat the same as ron 98.
like some of you said, a RON 98 petrol have some additive to give better efficiency ... i do not think it's true for shell.
Shell have 92, 95, 98 and V-power.
Basically 92 to 98 are just that... whereas V-power is RON 98 petrol with additives.
Even if Ron98 gives better efficiency... i do not think that a little extra is justified by paying $3-4 extra per top up.
One thing i do not understand is why american vehicles are timed down to accept Ron 87-92.
RON 92 in USA is considered a premium petrol and the highest commonly found grade. not many kiosk there provide RON 94 and above.
Why can't we do the same and same a little cash? -
92 oredi good enuf for me. Maybe my expectation different.
