It will take a longer while to over take at a mere 120 on the NS. I wonder if anyone may share the Altis' strenth or weakness in this area pls.Originally posted by gentlerock:Sorry, a bit out of line on my part....
For me, the 0-100 km/hr figures are not that important as I don't go sprint the quarter-mile.
What's more important for me is high-end torque for overtaking on the Malaysian highways (say, 80-120 km/hr).
Thats the complaint I have with most new vehicles these days....they are all with the variable valve timing engines tuned to give low-end torque. But overtaking at highway speeds can be sluggish, which can be dangerous. But thats just me, 'cos I run the Malaysian highways often.
I think you seldom drive manual car, if you switch from manual car (any even taxi) to auto altis, you will find the weakness of altis.Originally posted by teochoo:It will take a longer while to over take at a mere 120 on the NS. The Sunny goes from 0-100 km/hr in 7 secs??Originally posted by PLC guy:i even tried sunny manual from 0 to 100 km/h only 7 secends, from 1st gear to 3rd gear and 4500rpm, already 100km/h, major thing of test pickup speed is changing gear must be as fast as possible and heavy foot.
Hmm.. i think lots of cars will have trouble reaching 100kmh in 2nd gear.Originally posted by gentlerock:The Sunny goes from 0-100 km/hr in 7 secs??
And in 3rd gear too?
Times must have changed.....when I used to sprint, this is how I did it:
- Handbrake up, engage first year and balance with clutch.
- At the signal "go", release handbrake and accelerate to just above max. torque point (during those times, it was 4000-5000 rpm).
- Quickly switch to second gear and run all the way to 100 km/hr (no time to change to 3rd, or else another 0.5-1.0 secs is lost in the gear change.).
You're right - normal saloons of course cannot lah.Originally posted by cornyfish2000:Hmm.. i think lots of cars will have trouble reaching 100kmh in 2nd gear.
You are right, but i need to correct you lit bit,Originally posted by gentlerock:The Sunny goes from 0-100 km/hr in 7 secs??

Whoa. Upshift from 1 to 3?.Originally posted by PLC guy:You are right, but i need to correct you lit bit,
1st not release handbrake this action,
2nd you must from 1st gear direct shift to 3rd gear, no more 2nd gear, otherwise you will no time change to 3rd gear, the main issue is how heavy your foot in 1st gear, you must hit to 6000+ rpm or 60+km/h, tmie less than 4secs, otherwise you will lose
OK OK I believe you......if you take a manual Nissan Sunny and shift from 1st to 3rd gear, the Sunny will do 0-100 in 7 secs.Originally posted by PLC guy:You are right, but i need to correct you lit bit,

Hahaha.. How can fit Sti engine inside? Hmm.. your car got mod one ah? Er.. Cold air intake, suspension, or pirelli tires or something ah..Originally posted by gentlerock:Hang on.....
Your Sunny can hit 60 km/hr in 1st gear? And it happens at 6000+ rpm?
Wow....must be modified Sunny hor? Maybe with a STi engine fitted inside.![]()

this is confirm a modified one la. But really frankly speaking, sunny is heavy, therefore stabililty is there even u travel at 170,car still don't vibrate. So sunny cars are tough in this point, unless u do alot of modification.Originally posted by gentlerock:Hang on.....
