Why no motor racetrack in Singapore?

Well, I guess the subject line speaks for itself. Would anybody like to comment on the reasons why Singapore has no motor racetrack for gearheads? Is it space, money, safety, lack of demand? All of the above? I will admit tho, a race track can only entertain international events only 1-3 times a year, so relying only on such events is dodgy...
I was thinking that perhaps there is a lack of local demand.... but are there really only a few gearheads in the motoring and biking community that would like a track here?
Just wanted to provoke a discussion here. :-) -

juz look at the amount of speeding tickets tp are giving out, multiply them by 3? 4? times for the ppl who speed but got away, and u'll have a rough gauge of how many speed demons are there, who would love nothing more but for a purpose built track to unleash their fury upon.
i dun think there is a prob with public support, i mean, something as controversial as a "integrated resort" has taken up roots in sg. prob i think, boils down to which brave soul would venture off the trodden trail for a venture with little knowledge of the risks involved and recognize the potential competition from neighbouring established world class circuits like sepang.
political will is another matter, but that is a more complex angle which i would rather not start here. -

its simply because ppl don't ask for it..
gvnt says no and ppl just keep quiet.
sometimes laws are outdated. like 40km speed limit on empty wide roads with less traffic where ppl are driving better and better cars. maybe that rule was good when decades ago ppl driving spoked wheel cars on nerrow bumpy roads.
govt says for safety reasons. public road speeding limits for reality reason. but if there is a race circuit, its the same as swimming pool. u gauge ur own risk. chances of danger is managed by yourself, no threat to others. there's no reason to restrict it.
even the big issues like gouvernment changes, law changes, countries liberalized from colonial british, ect are done when ppl rally and demand.
no casino previously, now have. no public speaking last time, now you can. no fog lamps, but now u can install.
so the car organisations needs to ask for it. rally it if needed. boycott if required. -

In order to keep people from dying in crashes , they closed down the tracks and events many years ago.
Its like Banning Chewing gum , "its for your own good".
And also we know Cigarettes are the direct causes of Lung Cancer.
Maids purchase petrol to burn owners .
Buildings are built so high so people can jump from it .
They only dabble in industries that they can win in. -

besides, having a world class circuit in singapore can help to boost the motorsport industry and hopefully get a local F1 driver.

there was an old racing track a few decades back.... nearer to old upper thomson rd....
