practical lesson better hor.
shifting at 4000rpm and above is somewhat exaggerating, i'm curious any one who does that?Originally posted by zerocool85:save fuel? try upshift at 2000-2500 rpm..
that's light-mild footing..
heavy footing is 4000-12000 rpm ;D
The key is not to follow the rpm blindly. Many would agreed the "thousand" rpm to change only serve as a guide. It is about feeling the car/engine. As you drive, you will know roughly what feeling the engine give you when it is really to be up-shifted or down-shifted.Originally posted by jeslin:whoa, thanks for all replies.

i'm driving a manual, and always upshifting between 2000 - 3000rpm. so, although in the safer range but roomy for improvement.![]()

You close window, not off it!!!Originally posted by zzt231:......but after 80km/h must off window!......
woo...me around 13.33km/LOriginally posted by wbucket:My best: 19.7km/L on Kelisa (that explains the slightly higher rpm for shifting gear). Normal driving about 16.5km/L.![]()

...... Sorry!
Anyway, 1 more thing to note. Don't let your fuel tank goes below half-way point if possible. Cause many had feedback that your car is strongest when the tank is full, so less tendency to have "heavy foot" compared to when the fuel is running low and the car starts to feel sluggish.
lol sorry, bad english.....Originally posted by wbucket:You close window, not off it!!!![]()

there was a previous thread on fuel consumption and some explained that although the car weighs nearly 40-60 kg heavier on a full tank, the pressure of fuel that is exerting into the fuel line to the engine is higher.. thus more combustion is taking place and more power is given to the drive.Originally posted by zzt231:lol sorry, bad english.....
actually most ppl pump half tank only leh
like this lighter. full tank is heavy...
Wasn't able to find any theory behind this concept. My guess is fuel pressure. Anyway, this concept came from many drivers commenting about it. 1 actually did a test, which you can try out. Drive your car normally for half tank, pump and check FC. Then drive your car for full tank, and check FC. What most people notice is after half-mark of car, the fuel dropped faster.Originally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:really?what's the concept behind this? greater depth greater pressure into the fuel supply line?
but bro.. what u say here maybe wrong leh... bcoz the fuel meter in the car is just an estimation but not accurate at all..Originally posted by wbucket:Wasn't able to find any theory behind this concept. Then again, if you are a natural light footer, I guess this might not work for you.![]()
LOL I shift at 650RPMs....Originally posted by zerocool85:i sometimes shift at 5000 rpm or above leh jeslin..
maybe because u are a lady driver and don really wan thrill rides..
but thrill rides start at very high rpm.. hehe
We check FC by dividing amount traveled by amount needed to full the tank. Check between both when you fill at half indicator and when you fill at near empty condition. Compare the 2 FC, it would be quite accurate. Anyway, my half is 20 used, empty is 30 used, but have a 40 litre tank. So empty indicator for me actually means I have 10 litre leave as reserve.Originally posted by zerocool85:but bro.. what u say here maybe wrong leh... bcoz the fuel meter in the car is just an estimation but not accurate at all..
half tank i can travel 360km.. full tank cant go 720km... my mazda 6 tank capacity is 68L.. when at half tank i cant fill 34L but sometimes 40-45L at halftank already leh..
That is low. Must be a damn powerful car.Originally posted by AE86tofu:LOL I shift at 650RPMs....![]()
