i believe any 3 letter word with a vowel in betwn has a possibility of forming a word. And that's wad LTA doesnt want. same goes for SE* and the same will also apply for SI* -
The leters I & O will never be used for regoes because they aren't suitable. Even KL doesn't have WI* series. However, due to the sheer number of cars, Malaysia has no choice but to use A & E as middle letters. i remember there's a debate over *SEX* plates, that's why LTA removed it.

The LTA decided that with so many dialects and languages spoken in SG it was too difficult to ensure the three letters wouldn't be offensive to any groups, so made a white-wash decision to remove vowels from the middle of the three letters. Gee, like for each combination such as SE* there are only 26 possible three-letter combinations. It shouldn't be *too* difficult to find people from each of the dozen or so common languages and dialect groups here to check those 26 combinations.
In breaking news, FCK and KNN are deemed offensive, so consonants will also be banned from the middle of plates. Plates will now consist of a letter, a space, and another letter.
