Its to safe guard their own interest, if u r a non p-plate, anyting happen, u r liable to compensate coz its ur responsibity after 1 yr of graduation ( Tink they give a damn hv u been driving for past 1 yr or so?? ). A p plate guy will say, aiyah! i newbie mah... Sianz lor, rental coy all suck thumb together.
beckboy
hmm....p-plate driver who buang also have to compensate wat.....there is no diff in the procedure....

some places will rent to u, but beware because their insurance coverage wun apply to u, in a sense u will be driving illegally because u dun have insurance coverage, and they r renting to u illegally also.

If u've no plans to buy a car soon, why don't you join Cityspeed or Honda Diracc? Both carsharing accept probational licence. Take up membership with Honda Diracc for p-plate driver @ no additional charges. However, kindly be informed that in the event of an accident, your insurance excess is $1000.

if i'm not wrong some rental companies and car-sharing scheme requires the person to be above 21 years old... better check it out first.

Yes, I just got my licence too and managed to rent a car 2 days after passing my test. Just need to be extra careful on the road and dont panic.
