i think can drive la.. provided he/she is here for a holiday.. but not a long term visit.. cuz if long term.. they need to convert.. but also need 18yr old to convert.. -

You may not drive using a foreign license in singapore if you have already taken up residency in singapore (meaning you are here on student, diplomatic, employment, permanent passes), but they will give you a time limit to convert.
conversion.. you have to be 18
The penalty for driving without a valid license is fine and/or jail and it is a criminal offence not a quasi-criminal offence.
For your case, your being under 18 is a more serious offence than driving with an overseas license. -

This isn't Indonesia... this is Singapore... in the eyes of the law... you're still not licensed... doesn't matter if you have an indonesian license, you don't have a Singapore one... that's all they will see... If caught, you'll still be charged in accordance to Singapore law... I have worked in a HR dept of a company before...
this guy, got degree with 1st class honours applying for job... we have to refuse him (despite him being very eligible for the job) just because he has a criminal record of driving without a valid license.
And take note... driving without a valid license may come with a "driving without due care charge.
since, you do not have license.. you are not capable of driving with due care... so the double charge. -

Anyway, I only know driving without license or proper documentation can yield some serious punishment. I also know of 1 who drive and kiss lamp post without license. Immediately Jailed and loses his NUS eligibility. -
i think the only reason SEI hasn't been caught for 1 and a half years is because he has been abiding road laws. ...most of the time (kidding). i can say this because i've been in a car with him many times. bottom line is he won't be caught unless the police have a reason to catch him. i've been in the country for 17 years and i've never ever been pulled over by a cop in a car in singapore, except for one mandatory car check from the police. SEI is in the wrong driving underage and doing all of this but it is a risk he is aware of.
bottom line is that they say this countries road laws are very strict. but to have never been pulled over by the police for the many crazy things i've experienced on singaporean roads tells me that maybe they aren't as strict as they are said to be. i'm not saying that the laws aren't there. but i am saying that they might not be quite as strict as many people say they are. -

Similar to my younger brother,who is now 18,but don't have a license.Just too eager to drive,but wat i tell him,let me also share with u.
Driving a car without a license,will result in getting into jail or fine or BOTH and not being able to drive for rest of the life.
Please open your eyes big,and stop doing this.If not,until u cry,or regrett,it's too late. -

just for info, i also don have singapore license, i am holding indonesia driving license, the other time i went to TP and ask for coversion, the TP said "if you don intend to drive for more than 12 months" it is ok to drive without coversion. But i am not sure how they know if we intend to drive for more than 12 months. And another point i want to make is that the other time my fren gt 12 demerit point and during tat time, i don't drive, so he used my indo driving license to claim that 12 demerit point and he paid the $200 fine. And after that no news about it. So i guess it is legal? otherwise i wuold have been called up by TP?? -
