Be careful, the 2001 and 2002 M3 engines have some defect and many have blown up. Read about it at www.m3forums.com
I had an 04 with SMG, the car is great but if I did it over again, I would buy it without SMG. Alas, I had to sell it when I moved here this year...

If you are INDEED an M3 owner, you would know that the 2001 and 2002 M3s have something called a "rod-bearing recall". The cars were all taken back to the dealer to have their rod-bearings replaced.
