but i thought on the day when i bought my car,the SE told me that we cannot exceed 80km/h?regardless the rpm.Originally posted by casshern:speeding is okay but u cannot rev ur engine beyond 3k RPM.
but wat's ur defination of speeding anway? if you light footed u can hit 100km/h in about 2200 RPM
Originally posted by alberteinstein:For normal cars, I think 5th gear at 2-2.5k rpm will give 80km/h at steady speed already.
6th gear at 3k rpm should give you about 80km/h.
haha later happily drive ur brand new car there come back window kena smashed n rims kn stolen i laughOriginally posted by ceecookie:the best way to clock the first 1000km or ard that is to go KL and drive ard to shop and relax...then when u abt to go back u should have clocked 1000km already...
Wah!!!Originally posted by alberteinstein:manual zoon anot? my manual say anyhow ride, as long as dun push the engine too hard and also dun drive at the same gear same speed for extended time.
nvr talk about rpm and speed. i tot engine nature all is the same, so should use rpm best gauge. 80km/h is just that normal car, 6th gear at 3k rpm should give you about 80km/h. Please correct me if i m wrong.
hmm..Originally posted by wbucket:Wah!!!Didn't know new rio have 6 gear? These spec sounds like Mazda6. Usually normal cars, 5th gear 3krpm would be about 100km/h.
eh camry got 5 spd auto meh? be it old model or current model i thought it has always been a 4 spd autoOriginally posted by zerocool85:hmm..
i got post thread b4.. about how many rpm @ 100km/h
my old camry 5spd auto.. 100km/h @ 2000rpm
my new mazda6 4spd auto 100km/h @ 2700-2800rpm
i think 5 speed cars.. 3krpm will be 140km/h already ba.. i think also depend on car's capacity
Another cannot make it SE...Originally posted by scotts07:but i thought on the day when i bought my car,the SE told me that we cannot exceed 80km/h?regardless the rpm.
tried and tested...we did it with our car when it was very new....on the way to KL we just maintain 100-120km/h...then we relax there and shop...then when it was time to go back...the car had already clocked abt 1000km/h...so we speeded back....heh heh..did 170km/h....total mileage was ard 1500km/h together.....the serviced the car....Originally posted by Lambo:haha later happily drive ur brand new car there come back window kena smashed n rims kn stolen i laugh![]()

my old camry leh.. really...Originally posted by alberteinstein:my mistake. 5th gear max in my rio. u ppl rite, 5th gear at 2k is abt 80km/h. 3k rpm give abt 100km/h. what car gives 140km/h at 3k rpm??![]()
camry 2.2? that's really weird.. if ur old camry does have 5 spds then how come the present camry only 4 spd? a case of technological degenerationOriginally posted by zerocool85:my old camry leh.. really...
3k rpm 140
4k rpm 160
5k rpm 180
5.5-6 215-220..
and my old model is 5 speed leh.. i got count the shifts...
think i've come across a similar theory awhile ago. can't say i really buy it.Originally posted by guitarman1:Anyway saw one article on the web (dunno if true) that engine should be rammed early on (first 20 km) for piston ring to sit properly. This fella claim that if you baby the engine, the piston ring won't seal completely and you will have poorer performance/FC and more leaks.
Theoretically, it makes some sense, but not sure if its proven.
Just like to see what you might think if for the new car you are getting, the SE said you only need to first service it at the 10,000km instead of the usual 1000km, 5000km, 10,000km. Reason he gave is they use "good quality" engine oil as recommended by their Japan counterpart.Originally posted by tailslide:think i've come across a similar theory awhile ago. can't say i really buy it......
my rxz also got 6 gearsOriginally posted by ditzy:Shiok hor, the new mazda6 got 6 gears. I also like it.![]()
i'd say, these SEs can recommend and claim a thousand and one things, but at the end of the day, the car is ur's, and we all know dat some SEs are plain ill informed.Originally posted by wbucket:Just like to see what you might think if for the new car you are getting, the SE said you only need to first service it at the 10,000km instead of the usual 1000km, 5000km, 10,000km.
