It has been calculated that if everyone in the world did not purchase a drop of petrol for one day and all at the same time , the oil companies would choke on the stockpiles .
At the same time , it would hit the entire industry with a net loss of over $4.6B which affects the bottomlines of the oil companies .
Therefore , 22th September 2005 , has been formally declared " Stick it up their behind" day and the people of this nation should not buy a single drop of petrol that day .
The only way this can be done is if you forward this message to as many people as possible and as quickly as u can to get the word out .
Waiting for the government to step in and control the prices is not going to happened .
What happened to the reduction and control in prices that the Arab nations promised 2 weeks ago ?
Remember one thing , not only the prices of petrol going up but at the same time , Airlnes are forced to raise their prices , trucking are force , then prices which effect prices on everything that shipped , things like food , clothings , building materials , supplies etc , who pay at the end ?
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ! If they don't get the message after one day , we will do it again and again .....
So do your part and spread this message around .
Lastly , mark your calender 22/09/2005 , the day the citizens of the nations would say : Enough is Enough !!! -

Come on guys, don't u think that your views are too simplistic and naive. That will not entirely happen. The cold hard truth is that the current economic structures in the world cannot be sustained without fuel. Any deviance away frm the reliance of crude oil fuel is not forseeable in the near future.
I agree with the escalating fuel prices it really sucks but afterall, its is undeniable that fuel is a basic nessasity that we csimply cannot live without. It has to and will continue to be consumed.
I just hope that this oil crisis of sorts brings home the point of being serious in seeking a viable long term subsitute for crude oil and not be entirely dependent on crude fuel. -
Oil is not a perishable product, and can be stored for infinite period of time. So what if everyone doens't buy fuel for one day?? We will still need them the next day, the day after next and so on. If no one buys the stuff, oil companies just need to store the inventories somewhere and order cut in production.
In short, you can dun buy petrol for one day. But see who gets the last laugh. -
Yes they will need spaces in their warehouse to store more oil if we refuse to use private vehicles.
Then we end up complaining about bad public transport, given the extra crowd.

CNA has already reported that high oil prices will not be sustainable for a long period of time. Because in the long run, very few people will pump petrol because it will not be that affordable. OPEC will be forced to lower oil prices and thus petrol prices back to normal.
The reason for high oil prices is not because of the shortage of oil. 20 years ago, researches said that the crude oil will be able to last us for 30 years but yet, a few years back, with DOUBLE the population, they said it would last for another 50-70years.
USA is now in control of the middle east. Hence therefore in control of the oil prices too. USA is also in heavy debt because of the $$$ the borrowed for the Iraq war and thus taking opportunity to get $$ from the rest of the world. The currency of USA also drop so that their debt becomes 'cheaper' because the $$ borrowed will be closed to a 1:1 ratio. So when they pay off their heavy debt. Price will go down down down...
I hate the most powerful man in the world! I wouldnt say who!

Oil is a double edged knife. Cuts both ways - no handle. Like a razor blade. -
If you seriously want to help with the petrol problem. Try to develop cars which do not rely on petrol. If cars do not need petrol anymore the price will go down.

Good that if there are cars that do not run on petrol. BUT, that special car WILL cost a lot of money to buy, AND, since it's so special no common workshop can maitain it therefore, savings in petrol will go to service and maintenance.
Defeats its own purpose.
There already are cars that run on alternative fuels, but the cost of owning one deters many commoners.
So how does such a solution help?
It will be many more years or even decades, before such cars become mainstream. Meanwhile, all of us who needs a car for daily living, just have to bite the bullet, and pay up. -

A simple supply and demand theory .
If demand less , supply overshot , price comes DOWN !
If supply is less , and demand overshot , prices goes UP !
In crude oil commodities , the prices is traded in future forms , meaning they forecast the demand of the next three months , in quarterly by calender , there's where the word " reserves" comes in , USA is holding the world most reserves .
If the people of the world , the end-user that is , limit their use of petrol for a day , or best ... limit their use of petrol in 3 months , i'm so sure the prices will come down significantly . -

if everyone is willing to do that on 22nd.. than sure man.. why not.. but dun be stuipd who is willing to do that? Big company willing to listen to your advice and stop their production for that day ? -
asking all not to pump petrol for one day..is like asking all not to eat for one day..you think possible?? u noe how many times taxi drivers pump their vehicle in a day?? dun pump petrol den ride trishaw issit? Im sure that one day where everyone boycott petrol will be that one day which will incur more loss then those petrol companies..

Disd that mail indicate a gallon ? No ! Just a drop , meaning a very minimum , you pump to what you need on that day , if possible , boycott the pump station just that day , if possible , you pump where it's needed .
Taxi needs plenty , we know that , some can be done , some can't , those who can , do what we can !

Even if whole spore drivers do not pump petrol that day, oil supply/consumption in spore is just a drop to the whole world. IMO, it make no difference.

Moreover the thread starter is saying driver don't pump on one day (if i read correctly) but still drive, your overall consumption still won't change (no saving), unless you taking about everyone don't drive for days (got saving,less consumption).
My opinion is demand of petrol in spore is too little to have a say to the whole world's supply.
