  that's engine capacity... an RX-8 has an engine capacity of 1300cc
  
  but it's a rotary Wankel engine and is very powerful..

  there is a distinctive difference between a piston engine and a wankel engine...
  
  they perform totally differently... engine capacity isn't a measure of anything

  2.5l and 3.0L? That sounds more like a Mazda 6. Like mentioned above the RX-8 has a 1.3L it has a very small motor because it is bi-rotor. Like RX-7. But RX-8 has no turbo available, later they're thinking about making MazdaSpeed RX-8 with super charger.
  
  The 1.3L rotor motor maks 240ps and around 215 Nm. That's really gd for a 1.3L just it has spin fast, takes a while to get to 240ps. Not as responsive. But motor is very small so RX-8 has close to 50:50 weight ratio. GO read lah
  
  oh yea, the biggest rotory motor you'll find from mazda is a 20B which they hadded another rotor making it 3, very fast motor lar

  does a 1.5L putting out 250 ps sound economical? Or a 1.6L putting out 230ps?
  
  Here in the states was have some racing cars that only have around 2.7 liters but make 700~800 ps, really small fast cars.

  1.3L is just the volume of the space of the cylinder...and since rotary works very differently from a normal conventional piston engine... you can't compare the power to displacement ratio with other piston engine cars...

  RX-8 is 1.3 rotary....215 horse for the normal version and i think there's another model with 250 horses..correct me if im wrong...WRX is 225 horsespower and evo 280 horses....but 215 is impressive for a 1.3l rotary with no forced induction...WRX and Evo have turbo
  
  Its like a small but powerful car...and to me its a touring car..saw pics of one RX8 hitting 230km/h

  yea but, the EVO ans WRX are both boosted, the RX8 is N/A turbo the RX8 and you'll get closer to 320hp.

  The 1300cc Renesis engine had to be classified as a 2500-3000cc engine for some award due to it's power output. Nevertheless, it won. I hope that addresses your question JJC.

  not economical at all. My fren pump every 2-3days. it may be 1.3 but its rotary engine. consumption as good as those with 2.5-3L or somthing.

  1.3 litre rotory engine. engine come in 2 type. normal and high spec. normal 210 hp, high spec 250 hp for jdm and 231 hp for euro. euro detune the engine to meet emission standards. high spec engine won engine of the year and best engine in its class (2.5 to 3 litre catagory).
  
  road tax pay as 1.3 litre. insurance is as a four door. pumping petrol, depending whether u heavy footed or not. please feel free to correct.

  Road tax is calculated based on the car's engine capacity, so obviously the road tax for the RX-8 is the same as any other 1.3L car.
  
  Just that the insurance is much higher and so are the fuel bills..

  the increase is based on the type of turbo...if u use those small/normal turbo u at at most 25-75 horses increase...while if u use a large Garrett T28 turbo i think it can get u about 100+ horses...

  on hi performance motors most well built turbo kits will net you 60~100hp. And the way rotory motors are you can boost the hell out of them, just watch out for the oil, rotory motors eat oil.

  the rx8 is power by 2 rotary engines, each of 654cc, thereby getting 1308cc.
  
  the jdm generates 250bhp, considering the sleek n executive looks it got, it's damn nice. price abt this car, i'm not sure abt tat.
