Car Servicing

  Hi ,
  
  Need some advices. If I am going for the 2nd free servicing from the dealer this afternoon. Usually they will ask you if you are changing your oil motor to mineral or synthentic.
  
  However, they did not ask if you need to change your oil filter or spark plugs.. Do they change them too during the servicing or you will need to instruct them to do so ? Anyone any comments?

  usually 2nd free service doesn't change the oil filter and spark plugs.And it's not necessary to ask them to change,cos if i'm not wrong,currently u're going for 5k service rite?

  I first changed spark plugs at 10,000km. May I ask when should the Fuel filter be changed? Engine oil filter should be change as and when the engine oil is change.

  thanks. I just went for the servicing. They just charge me the oil filter for $7 dollars. As for the spark plug, they told me it is not necessary. Well this is the second service for the 5000 km.
  
  Just one query, I used my own oil Mobil 1 Fully Synthentic 5W-30. However, after the service they wrote on the next service mileage at another 5000km. I thought using a fully synthetic oil should be able to last 10,000 km. Isn't it?
  
  Can someone help me on this query?

  yup 10k km. who's the bunch of idiot mechanic from? check with some1 more senior how long ur plugs will last. iridum can last at least 40k km.

  I have heard from somewhere that when you first change to full-syn, it is better to change slightly earlier because the full-syn will kind of clear your engine. Anyway, those guys will usually write 5000km. For 1, the car don't lose out on reliability, and they got to cash in sooner. So drivers have to be clear what you want from them, always discuss with them what should be and shouldn't be change for each servicing.

  Bro, it is not the rating of the oil, it is the natural of it. Whether it is material, semi-syn or fully-synthetic engine oil. Only for fully-synthetic engine oil would it be advise-able to change after 10,000km, regardless of the rating of 5w30 or 10w40.
