06 vios vs sunny ss vs 06 city vtec

guys..hope to hear your views about this 3 cars..the 2006 vios, city vtec & sunny super saloon..assuming all 3 are manual, which would be the better ride? personally i love the comfort of a sunny ss, the little kick vtec of the city when it opens but was also tempted by the price of a vios! however, the FC of the cars is also a deciding factor..
here are the prices:
2006 honda city vtec MT: S$61k
2006 toyota vios MT: S$52k
nissan sunny ss MT: S$55k
unless an 2nd hand ignis sports pops up before cny, otherwise my choice would be narrow down to these 3 models..give me some views? thanks guys!

ok here's my 2cents worth
build quality:
sunny - made in japan, should be ok
vios - thailand, not very good, seems to be a lot of problems here and there, check out the vogs forum
city - thailand, but could be better than vios, why? cuz it's exported to japan as fit-aria. if it's good enough for japan, should be good enough for us, no?
comfort/suspension:
sunny - never found sunny to be comfortable leh..interior small for that kind of exterior size
vios - typical toyota soft suspension, very uncomfortable if corner aggressively, cramped interior
city - vtec has a sportier suspension than idsi, esp the new face-lift since it's been tweaked even further(the original vtec has already one layer of changes from the idsi version)
engine:
sunny - variable valve timing, but feedback from owners seem to be there doesn't seem to be any difference, you should check out sunny forum
vios - variable valve timing, good power for its weight
city - vtec, effectiveness is more than vvt in terms of power wise. vtec engines are also very fuel-efficient when operating below vtec kick in
fc:
sunny is infamous.
vios - fc good
city - should be close fight with vios
looks:
sunny if you like ah-pek look
vios - facelift looks worse actually
city - facelift looks much better
price:
sunny: made in japan at that price is good
vios: cheap lah
city: priciest, about same price as altis, but what you get is better cabin utilisation, big boot, efficient cvt(if auto), wheel base same as vios, better suspension.
ignis sport is slightly different from the 3 here cuz it's 3 door(incovenient or sporty depending on how you look at it), no boot, dated interior look, small size, but you get a rev-happy engine, close gear ratio, long exhaust, sporty suspension, forged pistons and quite a lot of mods compared to a 'normal' car.

sunny actually not too bad as i am an owner of it.If u know how to mod it,it's cool.Stabililty is there,but is very poor is FC.

City seems to be a better choice.. But alot of people don' like City because honestly, while it has great boot space and nice interior, the price is markedly more ex than vios.. Vios has good FC, good proven track record. Vios is also very popular, shd have no problems at Borneo.

city or vios. either one.
i see FC as an impt factor as it is the long run expenses. thus a car with really gd FC is very attractive.
but however its ur perspective on cars, if u nid it only for travelling as a kind of transport then maybe go for the vios. i tot the new facelift was no much different compare to the present one.
honda cars are gd. if nt y so many driving center uses them?
city is very competitive to vios. both are gd. and nice.
sunny.... er..... no comments on sunny. dun really like the ride.
but it has a rather high FC. some said tats its has a gd handling. nt sure thou nv tried b4.
but i guess city or vios r a gd choice for singaporeans budget.

heard vois is abt 15km/l, never tried before, but body weight only 990kg, dunt know how is the handling at high speed, i was driving honda City G2, body weight only 985kg, once speed hit 120km/h above, felt floating. -

vios's facelift not very obvious..but toyota cars are known for gd FC..even those coe models can achieve pretty gd FC..vvt-i vs vtec? i dunno man..a fren driving wish told me the vvt-i kicks in ard 4k..but how much kick? afterall wish is 1.8L..cant really compare.
bro u previously drove an 2G city vtec? it's a pretty decent ride..interior abit old sch in my opnion but decent power..ever rent it for a few days was quite impressed with it. but FC not so gd as i tried opening the vtec quite often..hehe. yeah, can feel it floating at 120km/h..and thats the fastest i go on it..balls not strong enough to push it further.
after some thoughts, i have decided to get the city vtec manual! but will still go test drive both vios and city vtec..i haf been a lover of suzuki..felt kinda of like betraying them! haiz..will monitor the coe and most probably before cny! going to get it from my dealer fren from swee seng...hehe.

talking about FC, yupe it is not that good. but it is due to heavier car weight. does it mean safer structure than vios? vios is lighter, can we say that it might less safe?

personally i find that sunny is a gd ride. at that price, cant find something like that and japan made. had i been in my late 20s or 30s with limited budget, i would go for sunny..my colleague mentioned in the earlier post was so happy wif his new ride(previously an 2000 accent) that when u mention sunny, it never fails to bring a smile on his face..

actually Sunny auto 1100kg, altis 1115~1175kg, Lancer auto 1100kg, Mazda 1235kg, sunny auto transmission has some desgin defect, it's lower efficiency compare to others.

The FC for similar Japanese cars nowadays is not that different. And I've always said, that there are many other things which will burn your bank account faster than FC ratings. If you don't travel very much, its really not practical scrutinising FC ratings.
Heavier doesn't necessarily mean safer. It depends on where the weight is - most of the time, its in the engine or gear.....or due to difference in body size. These do not necessarily have any influence on occupant safety.
In my previous job, I used to work for a company producing victim extration systems in case of car accidents. In my training, I've cut up cars before at the scrap yard. Even the supposedly heavy US-made cars were just a thin sheet of metal wrapped around a metal frame.
Occupant safety nowadays almost always means airbags (passive safety) - front, side, rear, etc. And airbags do not contribute much to the weight of the car. ie. weight is no indication of safety.
For each car, there are crash tests. Different countries have different standards for these tests (frontal impact, side impact, etc). And most modern vehicles sold in Singapore have passed these tests.
Here is a pdf document from the internet showing some crash test observations. You will notice that based on REAL-LIFE ACCIDENTS, the heavier, more expensive, more famous European cars are sometimes less safe than the so-called light Japanese "tin-can" cars.

all 3 r good cars....so it depends on wat u want, ultimately decision is yrs.
i like vios for its pickup n brakes....but floaty at hi speeds and shifts on cornering. My daughter owns a vios auto for 1 yr.now ..so far so gd.
sunny more stable but very reliable. I owned sunny ss mt for 4 yrs. I had zero breakdown and no problems at all. Spent $0 other than the normal svcing. still using original battery when i traded in last mth for a Nissan latio. I have 100% trust on a nissan
altho sunny fc not so good....but makes littel diff to yr pocket unless u use it like taxi.
i never got to buy a honda cos its price is always much higher compare apple to apple.
i never go for looks in a car as No. 1 .......reliability and other practical factors mor impt. -
im drivin the sunny ex at at the moment it has good handlin even at high speed but the FC is not good avg 10/11km its not an apek car its kind of sporty if u fix a sports kit..

Try visiting mycarforums.com to get better info. They have some serious car fanatics there.
The Honda city is one ugly bugger...but i came across a guy who did some self-maintenance, changed engine grease and so on and achieved and FC of 19.7 !
My VIOS (M) maxes out at 17.5 and i'm a highway traveller.
Sunny's FC can't conpare with those two but some forum pages describe the engine as solid and durable. Of course, the Sunny is the most spacious of the three.
You might want to check out the mitsubishi lancer too....that was my 2nd choice before i decided on the VIOS. -
lancer still using old technology lehz..somemore i always laugh at those who mod their cars till like evo..dun wanna kanna the same fate too!
