VBH is a professional?Originally posted by AE86tofu:even so Still the EVO9 lost to the Good Ol' EVO 6 at a track shootout and mind u it was driven by professionals and yes both are stock
well she used 2 be a karter so she has credentials but I wanted Tiff to drive itOriginally posted by TwinTurbo_Supra:VBH is a professional?
the flappy pedal gearbox like wad clarky says is RUBBISH....useless on the road esp parking...if i have the 6.5 i'd keep the exterior stock..maybe change exhaust to ralliart one and uprate the brakes to bigger brembos....thats as far as i can go but internals is a diff story.....Originally posted by markzz:If have a choice, I'll get Tommi Makkinen's Evo 6.5 and change the gearbox to Sequiencial Transmission! No need step clutch but can still manually switch gears! I guess u all prefer the Evos den the GTRs, eh?![]()

haha.. u are even using his term, "flappy paddles".Originally posted by AE86tofu:the flappy pedal gearbox like wad clarky says is RUBBISH....useless on the road esp parking...if i have the 6.5 i'd keep the exterior stock..maybe change exhaust to ralliart one and uprate the brakes to bigger brembos....thats as far as i can go but internals is a diff story.....the new MIVEC turbo engine from the EVO9
but then again I prefer the R34 over the 6.5....A car which is honed at the nurburgring is good anywhere else
Have you ever driven a WRC spec sequential shifts before?Originally posted by markzz:If have a choice, I'll get Tommi Makkinen's Evo 6.5 and change the gearbox to Sequiencial Transmission! No need step clutch but can still manually switch gears! I guess u all prefer the Evos den the GTRs, eh?![]()
Did you really see the clip?Originally posted by AE86tofu:even so Still the EVO9 lost to the Good Ol' EVO 6 at a track shootout and mind u it was driven by professionals and yes both are stock
F1 cars also need a clutch to engage 1st gear, no more launch control.Originally posted by DoggieHowser:Have you ever driven a WRC spec sequential shifts before?
They have NO synchro meshes.. and you still need to use the clutch to engage the first gear.
It's NOT like the DSG, it's not F1, it's not SMG, it's not Selespeed.
And to be honest, once you get used to manual shifts, it isn't a bother anymore.
i only hope they didn't get scrapped already. I love those cars.Originally posted by tomsss:ah yes, the good 'ol Evo 4-6 series.... i really wonder why i don't seem to see almost any of them on the roads these days. Besides, they are proven rally-winning machines. Back in the days where SMSA used to host those carpark rallies, those Evo 6s would outnumber the WRXs.... where have they gone???

Stock?? I seriously doubt the Evo 6 was.
The front intercooler looks larger than normal, and it has a "bullet type" exhaust (similar to Hi Power or N1). So who knows what else has been changed? Decat? In a UK test, a decatted Evo MR FQ320 beat an FQ400 just with a simple decat.
And I think VBH would have gotten significantly faster times if she didn't go sideways so much in the E9. If you check the latest BM review of the Evo IX, even the more experienced drivers don't push the Evos into controlled oversteers anymore.
The sequential manual gearbox used in Ferrari ROAD cars are called F1. It's just a branding similar to Selespeed from Alfa, SMG from BMW..Originally posted by TwinTurbo_Supra:F1 cars also need a clutch to engage 1st gear, no more launch control.

DUHz
I did see the clip i d/led it duh and its fith gears policy to use cars which are almost close to stock on the track... and back in those days the AYC is not as agressive as compared to now which explains the oversteerOriginally posted by DoggieHowser:Did you really see the clip?
