haha yea hard indeed, very detailed. need lots of determination to keep going on, which i lack at times, that's why been dragging it for quite sometime

well for spray painting of the exterior, there has to be a layer of primer first. primer is a white 'paint' that allows your colour coating to stick well to the surface. and, first thing first before the priming, you gotta soap wash the parts first and dry them.
after the colour coating (which alone involves a lot of pointers), there are also works for polishing & waxing.
if you're talking about the other parts of the car, i.e. engine parts and interior, you can either brush paint or air brush. beginners go for air brush, using enamel or acrylic paint. air brushing requires some monetary investment and skills, and is more for the seasoned modellers.
