My Honda makes a funny sound

  Hi!
  
  I own a 1-yr-old Civic. Months ago it started making a 'hoo' sound periodically. The service man claim it's due to the air con pressure valve. After he 'fixed' it, there was indeed no more sound. Recently the sound came back. Anyone has such experience?
  
  P/S: There was once at a traffic junction when my Honda decided to give it a 'hoo'. The motorcyclist beside me startled and looked left right. Of course I put on my best nonchalant look. So embarassing when I have friends in the car!

  where does the sound come from? from the engine bay? from the undercarriage? from the rear? any other notable symptoms apart from the noise? (cun imagine wad a "hoo" sounds like. something like liang po po?).

  Ya!! Just like her but only 1 sound. Frequency range from few times a day to days apart.

  serious ah? i'm stumped. i'm guessing its coming from one of the pulleys/belts. does it happen when ur moving or stationary? might be worth opening up ur bonnet at KM and wait for that sound 2 identify the source.
  
  maybe u really have one miniature liang po po stuck somewhere in ur car?

  my sunny also gives a 'psst' when i rev it hard, like 6k rpm and when it changes gear...i swear by god, din add any turbo, BOV, or the 'psst' speaker undercarriage. the sound comes from under bonnet...
  
  any sunny owner, pls advice?

  We did that...that's why the mechanic deduce it's the air con pressure valve.
  
  Now that it's back, I really dunno how.
  
  This sound can come on when the car is moving, stationary, and behold! Even when the engine has been turned off!

  Thanks a lot...especially those who have a priest or pastor to recommend. Mine will probable exorcise me first if I ever suggest a session on the car......
  
  Ok but if the radiator got problem I should be able to monitor from the gauge right? Temp is normal (slightly less then mid level).
  
  It's so embarrassing to have the car hoo-ing after you as you walk away..... I miss my old Honda

  or go back KM loh.. since ur ride still under warranty...

  ah, there u have ur prob! y rack ur brains when a trained mechanic has already given u the answer?
  
  take the car back to the same mechanic who troubleshooted the prob the first time round. tell him its a recurring prob which isn't present in other civics of the same batch (i think) and insist he change a new one for u (under warranty rite?). if prob still persists after dat, consider washing ur car with holy water once a week.

  my chain of thought... since radiators can start and stop at anytime... and ur sound 'hoos' at anytime... there is a link...
  
  secondly the sound, sounds like air flowing through a hole somewhere... like a whistle... just send to KM.. ask them check it out... worst come to worst... go there KPKB... =X

  My last civic was in great condition but I itchy itchy sent it to scrap yard...so here it is hoo-ing after me.

  it could be that the radiator piping is not fitted correctly, it will not show any high temp. cos it'll still work perfectly, but when there's pressure build up during and after driving.... the air will... ah you get the idea. bring it back to the same mechanic and suggest to him to to check the radiator. btw... when you mentioned that he did a "quick fix", what exactly did he do? you should be informed on what exactly he did to your car....
  
  on another note... why not try replacing coolant with holy water? your car might be possessed lol

  u scooby got relief valve, his civic dun have.
  
  i think check all the exhaust gas recirculation pipes for leaks.
