Vios...Manual or Auto?

Hi everyone...need some opinions on whether i should take up a manual or auto transmission..went down to the showroom and found out that the price difference was $2k between the 2...As im getting a toyota vios mainly due to the good fc and the price is within my budget...would like to find out on what difference can it make in FC when compare to both auto and manual...the sales person recommend that i get auto since there will not be any major differences between the 2...i wonder how true is that....hope to hear from you all.. thanx alot!

a manual can make or break, it depends on your driving habits. if you can resist the temptation to rev too high too often, and instead drive conservatively, it should have better FC than auto. and of course, manual can let you bring out the full potential of the powerplant form time to time. and it seems in vios' specs, the manual's 0-100 is significantly better than the auto's. but then again, there's always the consideration of convenience and easy city driving with the auto.
so eventually, it's your preference

if u want a more relax ride, without the hassle of changing gears at traffic junctions, mscp or when slowing down, take the auto.
if u want more control of ur vehicle, manual would be the chioce. on paper, manual ride is more powerful, fc friendly & can take more punishment compared to the auto ride. -

if ur concern is FC, then go for manual. its a known fact that autos only sap more power from ur engine b4 it is delivered to the wheels. wasting fuel.
but then again as wad someone had pointed out, it also boils down to how u drive the car. a manic driver revving a manual consistently through gears would be likely 2 get poorer fc compared to a relaxed driver whos light footed with an auto. -
Thanx for all your feedbacks..i too would like to get a manual..mainly for the feel of better control of the car and its fuel consumption..but it seems that many people often discourage me of getting a manual mainly due to the torture u will have to endure during jams..but i think that as long as u get used to it..it should be okay...thanx for all ur advices...i have decided on a black vios manual

if you're a father or what, auto ah. if the kids think the gear level is some toy how?

Anyway whats the price of VIOS ? Its a new face lift model, change in external & interior also ? Digital meters inside ? No more casttee player ?
How you come to decide on Vios 1.5 ? -
hi..sorry for the late reply...the current price offering for a manual is 49000++
btw im 25...will be sharing the car with my bro...i choose vios because its the most value for money low budget car ard..as we will be keeping the car for long term so we think its better to get a toyota..even if its made in thailand..but it has been proven to be a good car from many owner's feedbacks. Test driven the car, other than the higher noise level and lighter body of the car...everything seems perfect...the interior is so so i must admit
i also test driven the new rio and verna...both are ok..in fact quieter than vios, but the fuel consumption i heard is not very good -

For power my friend's manual Vios kicked my 1.6 auto, and his FC is impressive, doing about 14km/l if i remember correctly.
auto is for comfort, and it's true for a country like singapore. you can't hold on to ur gear 4/5 for long, would have down gear in like few secs.
now imagine you just finish a soccer session/jogging/any sports that stretches ur legs, and all you want now is to go home and wash up and rest your legs. how does a manual vehicle sounds to you?
it's all about personal peference, if you want control. the manual vios is the best buy out there.

I drive my car back after the recent Marathon. Clutch isn't the thing you would worry about. It is the accelerator cause it is a constant pressure thing.
I still don't understand why everyone is so fearful about the manual clutch. Or is it just pure laziness?

at 1st i thought that auto will be better for me since i do not have to worry abt changing of gear and so on..it might sound very enjoyable...but after long it can be very dull and boring...anyway i think that it wouldn't make any difference since we are all still quite young...no matter how inconvenience u might think a manual is...its not as if by driving a manual demand you to use up all ur strength....i mean it all depend on getting use it and personal preference....u cant fault a person saying that its unwise for him to get a manual or auto just because u think otherwise.....just my humble opinion

If you're comfortable with the weight of the flywheel and gearshifts, and the biting point of the clutch, go for the manual gearbox. It's lighter, more economical, doesn't rely on electronics and cheaper to maintain and service (at the regular intervals...I doubt your car will give you much trouble).

Well I wasn't taught the bird's feather way, but I got my license using a manual car. If bird's feather was comes at a lower price and better quality, why not? the clutch can adjust to your comfort, so Jam is not a prob actually.
