YRV Turbo

Thanks to you guys that i find those updated list of new car prices.
I am wondering if a YRV turbo is worth buying?? Looking at the specs is damn inducing espescially the price is low.
any coments ?
I am also shortlisting Nissan March which is now 50k onli... though speed is a turnoff but the interior is defintely worth considering at least in my perspective.

oh.. just to add on, i went to test drive mazda 2... also like it... aiyoh.. headache now...... anyone can advise on my shortlisted choices??

i heard tan cheong will be stop bringing in march next yr..at 50k it seems a gd catch. but 1st of all, wats ur budget? also wat are u looking for in a car? i'll take ur budget to be 50-55k region..
1st. toyota vios(MT/AT) - decent power, nice pick up for the MT version. parts readily available across m'sia & thai. damage: ard $48k
2. suzuki swift(MT/AT) - european design, classic cabin & pretty decent power as well. not too much of performance parts tat i noe of at the moment. the new 1.6L swift sports might be a better catch but it comes at a higher price too though. damage: ard $53k
3. daihatsu yrv turbo - probably the cheapest turbo u can find in the market now. very gd power for the 1.3L engine. pretty fast in straights but kinda of suspecting on the corners due to its height. comes in only AT but got steer-shift function which works like a MT. think there are some bros in this forum driving the yrv turbo..it reminds me of the old toyota starlet turbo series. damage: ard $55k
4. mazda 2sp - this is another car u can consider. but the price is a tad more expensive then the abovementioned. however it has great cabin built, roomy interior and spacious legroom for rear passenger compared to all the above. agian it comes in only AT but its also the 1 & only in its class tat offers a "sports-activematic" function tat operates like a MT. has decent power. not too sure abt the handling though. damage: likely to be ard $60k

mazda 2sp is a decent car! if u can afford tat extra bit u might wanna go for it. as for yrv turbo, other then its performance, i think the interior is kinda of dated. if u want more power, go for yrv!

My budget is 58 & below... Mazda 2 price is 57k as what i knew when i went for a test drive.... However, mazda 2 i like is interior and pick up and "made in japan", for vios is thai made though exterior and interior seem fine..
whenu talk abt manual shift function in YRV turbo.. what u mean? is it something liek tiptronic? -
actually vios is a gd buy..dun be taken back by the fact it is made in thailand. remember, the parts are from japan. honda city, toyota soluna & now vios has been running ard for at least 6-7 years & none of them has fallen apart yet. haha..perhaps the earlier solunas might not haf been tat well received but vios has certainly improved alot more. look at our roads and u will noe.
the manual gear shift found out yrv turbo should work like the "step-tronic" or some other names for this function found on other cars. i'm not sure about the reliability issue regarding it but so far yet to hear anything bad about it too. but dun expect it to perform like the DSG gearbox found on the golf gti. the DSG(correct me if i'm wrong) is said to be even faster then MT's gear change and there are already pple going to the tracks at sepang & PG wif the golf gti. -
oh btw, i haf heard news that daihatsu are going to stop the production of yrv turbos in 2006..not too sure though.

Hmm Thanks manz. Seem like Vios is more receptive to forumers here. But i hate going to toyota showroom though after hearing so many guys here complain abt their service.Not that cannot afford, but sometimes after visiting, i just cannto make up my mind
Maybe i will go Daihatsu showroom this weekend to try out 1st

If you are going to daihatsu showroom, u might wish to test drive sirion as well. Fantastic spec at very afforable price. -

Why? Some car owner import cars that are not brought in by the agent too.

if u're pocket is deep enough and it can clear LTA, u can import anything u like. they will haf to consider the cost of bringing in & the profit of such deal. anyway, some cars arent here due to the fact LTA says no! well..tats sillypore..buy a car & get urself subject ERP, season parking @ $90/mth, fines, speed cam, speed trap, red light camera & road tax!(not forgetting bank installments) sometimes i wonder..do i really own a car?Originally posted by jxjoox:Why? Hm thanks for all the inputs.
No chance to go to Jurong for a test drive over the weekend. Instead, went to test drive
1) Getz1.6 (S$50k - S$5k rebate provided COE is obtainable)
2) Vios (Just see, no chance to test drive as I didn't really get a chance to ask)
Getz 1.6 is alright although I feel the interior does not look impressive and surprisingly, the sales who served me was alright and courteous.
Vios, when I went, quite a lot of people was looking at it and there was only a sales staff there serving those. the rest of SE was standing near RAV4 crowd or serving other customers. That's y I didn't want to ask for a test drive.
So far, honest, Only mazda 2 has impressed me with the interior and performance of the car. Space is slightly being compromised though. Getz interior is so so only. Only 1.6 has safety feature like ABS and airbags. 1.4 does nto come with it, with price difference of 2k between the 2.
My preference is gearing towards Vios now, given the lower price, high recommendations by forumers here because of the low fuel consumption. Let's see if I got time to see YRV turbo this weekend then. Will keep all informed again.
