if he dares, go confront them. and make it clear he'll not be prepared to carry this risk with them.
and it's, quite a Big risk.
under what circumstances can he be caught? road block, accident, etc. yes i think the car can be confiscated. and the registered owner of the car is liable for criminal charges too.
Me got no gf.. happily lonely!!Originally posted by alberteinstein:brother-in-law? I suppose he is marrying your friednd's sister(not your gf??). It is a very serious offence for his sister to lend the car to her husband when she knew he had no license. Ask him to get a license first. I think it can be either a very heavy fine, or even jail for your sister.
ask that guy to go get a license and dont drag the family down...Originally posted by coolbluewater:Just heard from my friend, that his future brother-in-law has just bought a SUV, and has collected the car. Problem is, he has no license. Insurance and car registered under his wife's name, but he'll be driving most of the time. In fact, he was the one who drove the car back home from the dealer!
That prompted me to think, under what circumstances will he be caught? If he's caught, will his car be confiscated?
My friend is pretty worried, because since he is marrying his gf, he might be affected if they need him to help pay for the fine, and this BIL of his is pretty much of a loafter.
It's probably lazy, as it's pretty troublesome to have a license, like studying for basic theory, advance theory, looking for an instructor for to learn to drive, arranging for driving test etc etc.. If you dun do it early, it'll be difficult when all the commitment comes in (ie. family, children, business).Originally posted by thingy:if he is caught and another person inside the car together with him has a valid drivers licence, that person will kena big time also.
as for him, he can forget about driving for the next couple of years...
wtf... got money to marry, money to buy car... but no money to take a freaking licence??!!

.
Maybe so. But for someone with such an attitude and with such a blatant disregard for the law, it is very likely that he will run afoul of some other traffic regulation and be caught sooner or later. I certainly hope he does get caught; don't need his kind on the roads. Although my heart goes out to his wife ...Originally posted by coolbluewater:Well, for all I know, if one drive during normal hours, no speeding, he/she will probably never get caught. UNLESS, he's involved in an accident, be it whether or not it's his fault.

it pretty much of a family affair to me. a confrontational approach may only work if ur fren is asked to speak 2 the bro in law on behalf of the family.Originally posted by coolbluewater:Just heard from my friend, that his future brother-in-law has just bought a SUV, and has collected the car.
