no dun have to display rd tax if u nv pay. while u're at that, might as well remove ur licence plate or make up ur own numbers...
of course need to display rd tax lah!!
you can choose not to display it, but you must be able to produce it if the authorities request for it (ie spot check, roadblock).
some pple say if dun display will kana $30 fine. however, LTA did not mention this when someone wrote to the cut waste panel questioning the rationale of displaying the road tax disc.
This was the reply from LTA:
We feel that it is still useful to issue the road tax disc, as it is the most convenient way today to remind motorists of their vehicle?s road tax expiry date. Also, for those driving to Malaysia, the road tax disc serves as a proxy for the Malaysian authorities to ascertain that a Singapore-registered vehicle is properly licensed and has valid insurance coverage when entering Malaysia.
Because our license plate can be trusted that's why no real need for the disc.
BUt other countries, when you don't pay parking or what, they don't look at the license plate but on the info found on the disc.
because the disc supposedly have the full info of the car (make, model, colour, license plate)
But to me displaying got no purpose lah. only tell other people how much road tax you pay. haha. if you look at SXXXXCD vehicles... it will say TAX EXEMPT.
