Don't be too truthful when buying car insurance?

Went to see a car dealer today. Quite a friendly and chatty guy.
So I was telling him that NTUC Income is quoting me a very high insurance (for a model that I'm interested in) because I had an accident in July last year and the total claims then was about $10k.
The dealer then told me that I'm too honest. He told me that when I approach car dealers or motor insurance next time, don't tell them about the accident. He even said that 'something' could be done to adjust the insurance premium downwards.
Hmm.. he didn't elaborate further. Dunno what is this 'something' he was talking about..
So is he right? I though all insurers will know your claims history, regardless of whether you tell them the truth?

dats the sad truth in motor insurance. better pay the extra premium den risk possible default on insurance claims in the event of an accident. there's no price to put on a peace of mind.

If you did not meet with an accident, then you may get a way from not declaring. Once you do meet with one, the truth can be exposed. Insurance companies can always counter check with one another, and they often do. So better not hide the truth.

If i am not wrong, your new insurance company can check whether you have registered a previous car and from that registration they can trace your previous insurance company from whom will provide them your NCD details.
But it depends on the kind of insurance company, some of them are not member of a certain network so they don't have access to such info.
Because my need not tell my new insurer anything and both my NCD and COM was transferred.
anyway, i advise against NTUC income... they are quite pain in the ass to claim from. -
Dun play play with insurance.. nothing happen ok.. if something happen.. u will feel like killing urself for trying to save those $.
No choice then insure with NTUC.. like I've said ealier.. dun play play.
I dun insure with them.
