My friend just bought a new car, but his maid scratched it whilst washing, supposedly during drying it with a cloth.
Anyone has tips to share on how to prevent such unfortunate events from happening when washing car manually? Can drying with a chamios cloth prevent faint scratches?

Car washing 101:-
1. Wash off the dust/dirt with water (best is if you can hose it off using those high pressure sprays)
2. Clean the car using sponge and car shampoo. Make sure sponge doesn't have bits of dirt sticking to it as that will scratch your paintwork. Always start from the roof and work downwards.
3. Rinse off the car. Again, if you have a high pressure spray, that's the ideal.
4. Dry the car. Make sure the cloth you use is clean with no dirt stuck to it.
It is the dust particles/ bits of dirt on your car/Sponge/Cloth that causes the scratches. Make sure you get rid of them first.

use microfibre cloth to wash. cos all the dirt will stick onto the cloth and not scratch ur car while washing.
for drying use chamosis. will not leave any water marks behind

the thing is quite hard to get proper water source to use the jet spray...

Just to add on, try not to wash your car in the hot sun or in hot hours (10am to 4pm).
The soap will dry before you finish soaping the rest of the body. This will leave ugly soap marks.
While wiping dry, use a chamois cloth and have a bucket of water to rinse the cloth every now and then, this is to rinse off any dirt/debris that could be collected while wiping dry.
I am all along tempted to use high jet spray too, but I can't find a electrical socket at where I wash.

Thank you to all for the tips!

I know. What I usually do is to empty a couple of buckets of water over my car 1st before I start washing it.
