Question on CitySpeed CarSharing

Greetings all,
I am deciding to sign up or not, but have some questions to ask those using cityspeed or had used it before.
About the car damages part, the excess is stated as $1k or $400 for non waivable excess. This seems expensive... so do they charge u the excess everytime u create a dent or scratch on the car? Or a slight crack on the bumper? I mean, are they really that particular/strict abt the damages? What if u forget to report the damges done by the previous user?
Because it seems expensive to be paying money everytime the car get some slight damges.

As long as not accident, they won't ask you to pay... slight scratches are fine... if there's a dent, better hope it's not a big one... they're not so strict... not so free to go down and check the car when you're done... and most of the time, the next user also won't really check...Originally posted by headlights:Greetings all,

You forget to report damages by previous user, also no problem... just pray the next user doesn't report... hehe...

they did not ask me to pay although i reported it.
Since then i would pay the CDW when i rent their car...
rather spend $6 to save few hundreds $
And i always check the car B4 i take it. -
i left my p plate in the car...anyone knows how to take back???and my account was supended cause i got not enough balance in my bank...so when will i be able to rent again.i jus deposit money in my account liao

You'd better call them to ask them deduct the money... they won't do it automatically once they suspend your account. Last time, they suspended my account when they couldn't get the annual membership cos I replaced my debit card. They didn't even tell me they suspended it... I only found out like 4 months after when I tried to rent a car...
Keep a close eye on your account... they accidentally deducted the amount twice from me and I spent one month, 2 emails and 6 phone calls before I got my refund... at least they returned me both amounts, so basically last year's membership was free... hehe.. But it's a lot of crap to go through... apparently their finance department and the customer service department don't have very good communication... heh... -

word of warning, they won't call u up before yr membership expires and ask if u would wanna renew it, they'll just do the nesc deductions from yr a/c for the next membership year

Second year with them now. Remembered that they promised with a second year free subscribtion for so called them before end of first year to confirm.
Once I forgot my cash card after I returned the car and went home. Ran back to the MSCP and called them. The guy unlocked the car for me remotely and locked it again while still holding the line. Lucky I remember before the next guy took over if not my cash card bye bye liao. $40+ inside.
Found many things left behind during my hire: Street directory, P plates, lots and lots of coupon tabs and even an empty McDonalds Paper cup.
Overall quite satisfied with Cityspeed but just hope all members spare a thought for the next user. Please clean up after use and top up the petrol. Got once the meter showed less than 1/4 full when I was in a rush. Curse and swear!

Er...I dun get it. Why don't go for NTUC Car Coop? Super cheap, and no worries about petrol or insurance and cars can be found almost everywhere

If I'm not wrong... NTUC only allows ppl who are 23 yrs old and above to register... and doesn't allow P platers as well... Cityspeed also no need to worry about petrol... they pay for it... and I've got 3 places where I can pick up cityspeed cars... if I'm not wrong, NTUC only has 1... -

Also Whizzcar. Not so sure about NTUC being super cheap, all 3 have their own rates but should not be too big different. Carcoop & Whizz actually share their booking line, also have a schecme that u can use both sets of cars but u have to pay more.Originally posted by Rigante:Er...I dun get it. However when I joined Whizzcar March last year, I was being too honest.
I tick the form that i did not drove above certain hours (tick the lowest) although I had my licence for 10years.
Then I was given the excess libility as $3K !!! think normal is $1500.
This part I actually dun quite undersand as I think the other 2 company is cheaper.
But suppose to be not your fault then you dun need pay (I think) -

I recently rented a car for 12 hours... total was only $42.80... which is $3.60 per hour... might not be an Alfa Romeo, but it's still cheaper...

Hirer do...every km is $0.40.
The company "pay" in the sense that 10km is free for every 1 hours booked and when u pump petrol, the bill goes directly to the company -
Just cancelled my NTUC car co-op membership. Have been member for long time; almost since they started. Occasionally use their cars. Locations are convenient.
Then I started to work out of Singapore and did not pay attention to their bill and they could not deduct my membership fee. Some time later, they made a few deductions at once and decided to increase my deposit. I cancelled because I did not see the point of paying a higher deposit then everyone else for a service that I may only use from time to time. Actually I have not booked a car for a least 3 years but remained a member.
Usual deposit is $100 but asked me to top up another $400 if I want to remain a member. I did not see the rationale of "locking up" $500 as a deposit for a service I rarely use. Might as well rent a car from a regular rental company.
Considering City Speed but no urgency to join or anything since I still work away from Singapore a lot. -

Hi, does anyone know what are the advantages and disadvantages of "subbing" a cityspeed membership?
the registration fees might be cheaper, but all fees incurred have to be on the main membershipcard that one apply from. Is there anyway around it?
