How does a car body affect her performance?

  There're two parts to this.
  
  1. How do body parts like spoilers contribute to performance? Cos in NFS Most Wanted they don't seem to contribute to performance.
  
  2. How does the basic body shape affect? For example, sport cars are low (think Lamborghinis .. even the RX8 ) but the evo and wrx are not. And why do Lamborghinis always have the funny boxy shape?

  Body rigidity.
  
  Coz NFS is game, and does not necessarily reflect the physics of real life car handling.
  
  Coz if lambo came up up with other shapes than their trademark designs, they might as well call themselves toyota.

  I agree wz ditzy.
  There's re many discussions on this already but basically its abt aerodynamics.
  Spoilers are used to increase ADF (aerodynamic downforce) in a car, giving it more grip.meanin de airflow above de spoilers generate a weight pressin down on de car.de downside is more drag,leadin to more FC & slower turn-speed.
  for a spoiler effect to work, de angle of attack on de spoiler n wind speed must beconsidered. those u see on normal road sedan usually are not effective.
  I'll reserve my comments here as sum pple thik putting spoiles on thier corollas will generate ADF even at 80kph!Even those on rex , EVOs ,GT wing dun work until like 160KPH & above.
  F1 cars wing can generate a ADF of almost a ton!! at angle of 6deg Spd of 300kph!..according to F1 world mag!
  H,ever sum cars like Nissan 350Z , Ferraris 355 & later models, Audi TT ,Lamboghinis empply ZFC ( Zero lift capability ) design so that they are an inverted camber. usin flat bed undercarriage n chasis..n sum inhouse design.these cars do not need spoilers..but they may hav conceal canards, diffusers, wind splitters etc..
  All these are to rduce the CG..they are low to achieve low center of gravity.
  Cars like EVOS, REX, etc are sedan cars..with electronics traction aids like ACD,S-AYC, AWD, DCCD,,they are suppose to grip de tarmac but still some hav found homes in monsoon drains. Still u hav evos & rex who are lowerred to make de CG lower.and so are GETZs, Altis..etc..nothing wrong wz that.
  so watever safety gadgets ,important thing is driver's safe attitude.
  Now to answer ur qns on why lambos are boxy..very interesting qns..
  lamboghinis will always be boxy..boxier than ferraris..because of a feud long ago by Ferrucio Lamboghini and Enzo..Enzo always looked down on Lambo because he's afarmer who made tractors...n so when Lambo made his first sportcar he wanted it to be different..it was RR & it was faster than ferraris.think that was e Miura. lambos had since became better & more reliable since Audi bought it over.
