How to remember singaprore expressway?
I only know ECP due to i live in the east....Been driving for 1 year and still quite clueless and often i got myself lost in the west or north
Any suggestion? -
okz what i going to sa might sound unhelpful but..........
get a street directory and look out fo road signs then no need to like remember le. -
Singapore only has 9 expressways (8 operational, 1 being built). It is easier compared to the Klang Valley which has at least 10 expressways.

are there really a lot of drivers who can drive but are directionally-blind? -

brothers here...i type singapore expressway in google search engine trying to find out all the expressway on singapore map(map that shows only expressway)but have no luck finding one...

BTW, how is the West Coast Hwy upgrading coming along? -
I also stay east side, but I only haven't travel in KJE before from the list below. Also 1 year ownership. Anyway, best way is still to get our there and get lost somewhere. This is how I learn my way around Singapore. 1. PIE
2. BKE
3. AYE
4. ECP

CTE stretches from north (YCK) to south (city area) hence the name CTE, central expressway. it is on the right side of the central catchment aread AKA bukit timah natural reserve.
PIE stretches from west (jurong side) to east (changi airport), hence the name Pan Island expressway.
BKE is on the left side of the Bukit timah natural reserve.stretching from PIE
Eng Neo to Woodlands, it runs very near bukit timah, so i believe tat's how it got its name
SLE is on the Northern part of singapore, also the north part of the central catchment area. it brings woodlands/sembawang to the rest of the singapore linking with BKE and CTE
AYE is the counterpart of SLE, running on the southern part of Singapore. i'm not too sure how AYE is because i hardly use it
i aren't too sure about TPE, KJE and the rest. but if you look at the map of singapore with the expressways, there's a certain pattern and the names will help you remember how the express way system run -

Did your friend look up at the sky for stars also?? -
How is AYE a counterpart of SLE? They don't even link up. The 3 Es that link to AYE are ECP, CTE and PIE(Tuas).Originally posted by casshern:......

Counterpart meant that AYE and SLE are similar... one running on the north one on the south. i never mentioned they were linked

Alright then, so makes that this 2 so special that you mention they are counterparts. Isn't other expressway similar too? TPE runnin on the north-east, ECP east, KJE north-west, CTE central-south. there is another north-south expressway being plannned, which will essentially thomson rd that side one.
there is also the SURS, which is a outer ring road for CBD, fully underground.
west coast project is going well, shld be done by dec 2006. it forms an alternative to aye, allowing smooth traffic from tuas to penjuru to jln buroh to wch to pasir panjang before linking up via the keppel viaduct. -
All the expressway are suppose to be interlink.
Can go round singapore.
SLE->TPE->ECP->AYE->KJE->BKE->SLE(again)
you can go round and around of singapore.
CTE and PIE are the so-call middle intersection which links it to the other expressway.
CTE can link to = SLE, TPE, AYE, PIE
PIE can link to = CTE, BKE, ECP, TPE
BKE = KJE, PIE
SLE = KJE, BKE, TPE, CTE
Go find a singapore map or a street directory and find out the actual route.
Or just look at the signboard when driving -

BKE (Woodlands to Bt. Timah/PIE)
North<->West
KJE (Woodlands to Jurong)
North<->East
TPE (Junc of CTE&SLE or Yishun to PIE or Changi North/Airport)
East<->West
PIE (Changi Airport to Jurong)
AYE/ECP (linked, essentially second PIE, Changi Airport to City to Tuas) -
