As far as I know, these are few examples of different type of fast cars using "semi-auto" gearboxes:-
Ferrari 'F1' transmission : proper manual with electronic clutch and gear shift - on most models these days, standard on Enzo. Launch control and shift speed settings.
BMW SMG : proper manual with electronic clutch and gear shift. M3, M5 and M6 only. Also has tricky launch control.
Maserati : Ostensibly same gearbox as Ferrari
Lamborghini : eGear - I think its an electronically controlled manual (As far as I can tell, happy to be corrected)
Aston Martin : electronically controlled auto (As far as I can tell, happy to be corrected)
Porsche : Tiptronic is electronically controlled auto
Audi/VW/Bentley : DSG twin clutch preselecting gearbox.
From what I've read in magazines and articles, the Ferrari box is the best, some people rate the BMW SMG and others hate it. Personally I think it is the future of fast cars but the technology is still maturing and people are still getting used to it. The DSG box is meant to be brilliant as well, particularly in the Bentley where it has to handle more power and torque than an F1 box yet still come with a 3 year warranty

Guess Opel has a long way to go in correcting & further tuning those sequential gear shifts
