Car Insurance and You

Just to let you guys know the role of your insurer and you. Actually what i want to mention was in the Sundays (Feb 26) paper in the Personal Advisor Section.
I encountered a similar incident as the one mentioned in the papers.
Anyway it's about you being involved in a not at-fault accident but unable to claim the other party's insurance because he purposely breach his insurance and insurance don't want to be responsible.
I am quite surprised that insurers can exercise their right not to cover the policyholder because he simply don't want to report the accident to the insurer and thus you lppl suck thumb at loss.
The newspaper said that because if you claim insurance, you are actually just claiming against the other party, but since the other party has insurance he will get the money from his insurer. Therefore, insurer reserved the right not to pay up.
Anyway, if you encounter such case, this is what i suggest you should do...
1) Call your insurance and immediately ask to claim against other party you need to claim excess for this.
OR if you are not in urgent need of your car, claim against OTHER party's insurance, this will prevent you from paying excess.
2) Call the other party regularly to see if he already reported to his insurance.
3) If he shows signs that he is uncooperative, send a registered mail or if you have the time visit at his residence. But just to remind him to report to his insurer, nothing else.
4) If he is still uncooperative (i.e. registered mail undelivered), immediately report the case to Traffic Police. TP does not have authority to intervene in a non-injury case, but they can assist you in bugging that person to report to police.
5) Bug your Traffic police case handler, if not they will take they own time one.
6) Bottomline is to make the other party report his accident. Otherwise other party insurer will just say "breach of contract" and bye bye. -

call TP to come down to scene of accident and den complain back and neck pain. i believe dat amounts to possible injury. especially whiplash. so TP have to get involved

next time pretend to walk out of the car limping. -
leg limping all this can be checked real or not, if its fake u have no case.
but for whiplash, it cant be checked because it may only surface few months after the accident. so its something dat if u say pain they cant say not pain hehe and moreover its a shock to ur spinal cord so damages awarded would be higher
