For number 1 yea increase to 180km/h speed limit for all expressway except for KJE..which should be thisOriginally posted by Praetorian111:1.Increasing the speed on the road is one of the ways to clear traffic off the road. However, this might compromise with safety regulations.
2.Improve the public transport network.
3.Carpooling.
4.Reduce the number of car ownership. (limiting number of cars that a household can own)
Increasing ERP charges is never the way to curb traffic flow. True that it may reduce the usage of a particular road intially. However as drivers got used to the increase the number will just goes back to normal.
The thing is, the higher petrol prices could be used to cross subsidise SBS for their dieselOriginally posted by nightsky87:Raise the price of fuel, everything increases
Bus fares, MRT fares (uses electricity derived from fossil fuels), Plastic price increases, etcs
Just because you dont drive a car does not mean it will not affect you. In the end, everyone loses, loser.
would it be fair? then the car drivers would be paying for the bus commuters! why? because they own cars?Originally posted by sbst275:The thing is, the higher petrol prices could be used to counter subsidise SBS for their diesel
Look, on the roads, buses gets priority through the B signal traffic signalsOriginally posted by nightsky87:would it be fair? then the car drivers would be paying for the bus commuters! why? because they own cars?
sometimes we cannot have the 'robin hood' mentality, whereby the rich, because they are rich, are expected to help the less rich. then it becomes communism.
And who profits? SBS?Originally posted by sbst275:Look, on the roads, buses gets priority through the B signal traffic signals
Also, it helps to encourage ppl to take SBS buses
In the 1st place, if the govt makes car usage expensive and bus fares cheaper, ppl will just convert to OPCOriginally posted by nightsky87:And who profits? SBS?
Dont mistake me, I'm all for public transport. I only feel that it is not a fair measure to penalise car owners, who already have extra burden from COE to ERP.Originally posted by sbst275:In the 1st place, if the govt makes car usage expensive and bus fares cheaper, ppl will just convert to OPC
More profit, SBS could buy more buses

erm... would this really work.... for example my house got 3 cars only 2 ppl we cant really drive all 3 cars. also people with more then 2 cars i dont think the rest of the cars all drive out at the same time anywaysOriginally posted by Praetorian111:4.Reduce the number of car ownership.
